Lindenwood Inn

The inn main building is beautiful, the breakfasts were delicious, and the pool and hot tub were great. There is even an honor bar, which is convenient because the town of Southwest Harbor is a 15 minute walk and the town is very quiet. Our room (11) was in the adjacent building. The room is a suite, with a sitting area and kitchen with a refrigerator and stove/oven. There is so much attention to detail at this inn that it was surprising that the mattress in our suite was hard and lumpy. After a day of hiking and sightseeing, I hoped that we would be so tired that the mattress wouldn’t matter, but it did. It was difficult for two people to be comfortable in the bed. I did inform the innkeeper and she was apologetic. I would suggest asking if the mattress has been changed out before booking this room.

We enjoyed our recent three-night stay at the Lindenwood Inn, and you will, too. It’s a deluxe B&B with all the amenities. Booking online was easy, and we paid a 50% deposit, with the remainder automatically paid the night before we checked out. The photos on the website give a better perspective than I could do myself, so none are included with this review except for the great breakfasts! The inn is well appointed with a lot of Australian art courtesy of the owner, who hails from Sydney. But to summarize, we had a gorgeous king room with sitting area and wraparound porch. The bed and linens were luxurious and comfortable. There was ample lighting and a lot of sitting space. We had an in-room coffee maker (although we didn’t use it) and perhaps the best B&B bathroom we have ever had. The rain shower was super after a long day hiking. And the vanity had good counter space and storage for our toilet article kits. Breakfast, served 8-930 in the dining room or on the porch, was good all three days. Coffee and hot water for tea were ready in advance, and there was a daily selection of fruit and muffins. Each morning we were offered a hot breakfast. One day was Mexican eggs with peppers and cheese scrambled in; another day was perhaps the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had; and the final morning was French toast made with a baguette and stuffed with blueberries. The staff were efficient, but we had little interaction other than taking our breakfast order. Parking in the lot to the right of the inn is available but the spaces are tight; in the lot to the left it is easier. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. We tried Beal’s Lobster Pier and Dry Dock Inn (see separate reviews). One, Red Sky, looked good but booked up early, so call in advance if you want that one. Southwest Harbor is a small town, but commands high prices for lodging due to its location, and restaurants make most of their money in the summer, and some close for the winter. All in all, an excellent stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at Lindenwood Inn. The set-up and view from our room (#5) was perfect, and made for a great evening. With close restaurants ranging from lobster pier to find dining (Red Sky), we found the location perfect for our needs. We prefer the pace and proximity of great parts of Acadia park available in SW Harbor (over Bar Harbor)... and we will be back!

Milan is the best Innkeeper! He is personable, warm, welcoming and made our weekend visit memorable as it was a special anniversary. Since we adopted 3 children, this was the first time in 10 years that we spent alone on vacation. I chose the Lindenwood Inn based on reviews & location, the quiet of Southwest Bar Harbor away from the crowds. I booked a room via phone with Milan the same day as arrival. Milan greeted us and after having a nice conversation he took us next door to the Rosebrook House and showed us the 1st floor suite complete with living room, kitchen and a king size bed for my 6' 3" frame. Instead of spending one night we ended up spending the weekend. At night we spent time in the pool & hot tub which was most enjoyable. Loved everything about our breakfasts, from the seating with table cloths, juice, coffee, fruit, bread and a hot breakfast that would surpass the best restaurants along with the staff that was attentive & friendly. We spent the days at Acadia National Park, just a short 15 minute drive. One morning we walked to the boat dock right behind the house enjoying the harbor view & the boats. We are looking foward to another Costal Maine trip and a stay at the Lindenwood Inn. Thank you again Milan for all you did in making our memorable stay most pleasant.

The Lindenwood Inn is on a quiet street a short distance off Southwest Harbor’s main road (Route 102). Lovely old house with eclectic decor. Clean, well-equipped rooms and a friendly, attentive staff. Cool breezes and views of the harbor. You won’t go hungry, with delicious Lindenwood Inn breakfasts, Mt. Desert Island Lobster Company seafood & BBQ next door, Beal’s Lobster Pier a short walk down the road, and Little Notch Bakery & Cafe’s excellent sandwiches and baked goods a similar short walk into town in the other direction.

Great place as a hotel and B&B. The folks are friendly, helpful and the food is good. The outdoor amenities, besides Acadia National Park, include a pool and a hot tub. Right up the street are a few restaurants in the small business district.
