Best Hotels near Dow Crag, South Lakeland District

The Ambleside YHA and Lakeside Restaurant alongside is so good, even the locals use it! Such a good venue and the staff are amazing. Nothing is too much effort, they are friendly and smiley all the time. The breakfast is outstanding and better than we got in the Holiday Inn last week and that cost £200 per night! Thoroughly recommend this place

Disappointing trip overall. We was due to check in at 3pm, when we arrived the staff informed us that our room wasn’t clean and ready for us. We eventually got into our room at 4.45pm, shocking really when we had a baby and spent £300 for one night. The room looked tired, also had no curtain on the window. When we raised our concerns to the deputy manager, she gave attitude and didn’t seem to handle the situation correctly. We come to the lakes every year and stay at the Beech Hill however I’m afraid this will be our last stay. However, even though are stay wasn’t great, I would like to mention the restaurant manager and restaurant staff who was very friendly and delivered a great 3 course meal.

I saw 167 square meters on Trip.com. It was a pocket room. It was too far from the city center and scenic spots. There were few buses and self-driving was acceptable.

From start to finish this was amazing!! My wife and I booked afternoon tea at the wild Boar and we were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by the reception staff that were so friendly and warm they directed us past the beautiful open fire into the restaurant, the gentleman that looked after us was great and nothing was a problem, even apologised when we ordered something that was not included in the afternoon tea and said there would be a small charge for this ( no need for the apology but was nice) the afternoon tea came and was beautiful everything was perfect, the food was amazing. The place its self is beautifully modern yet had a cozy country feel. The best part for me was the male toilet as the urinal is a slate waterfall. Altogether my self and my wife had an amazing time and have came home and booked a night to stay in the hotel next month, this a 100% must visit and we will be back time and time again

We've just got back from a two night stay to round off our tour of the north this summer! Absolutely brilliant hotel, and we wished we had stayed longer here. All the staff are super friendly, warm and welcoming - nothing is too much trouble. The family room we had was a great size, nicely decorated, clean and tidy. Very comfortable HUGE bed for us, and bunk beds for our 13 year old twins. The bathroom with modern fittings was spotless (which was a very pleasant relief to arrive at after the terrible hotel we had stayed at for the previous three nights!) The food! Well, what can I say?! You simply MUST just go for yourself and sample it. Freshly cooked, generous portions, perfectly seasoned and served with love. Every dish we had was utterly divine - breakfasts freshly cooked to order too. Would highly recommend this dog and family friendy hotel, either to stay or call in for lunch/dinner. We will definitely be returning.

Our views on our visit to The Belsfield Hotel are rather mixed. It is an imposing and impressive building in a fantastic location overlooking the lake. Check in was good with all required information provided. Unfortunately upon entering our room ( room 30 ) we were disappointed as it was not as I expected. I had booked a suite as we have done several times at other hotels . Previously we have found a suite has consisted of a separate room for relaxing with the bedroom attached. On this occasion it was a larger bedroom with a sitting area and small table for two. The hotel’s website does state that a suite may , or may not , have a separate lounge area and so on this occasion I accepted we had drawn the short straw . No issues there . However the website also states the suites offer stunning views and a roll top bath . There was no roll top bath as promised, only an older standard plastic panelled bath. As we are planning on restyling our bathroom assessing a roll top bath in practice was one of the features that swayed our decision to stay here . With regard to the stunning views . When sitting at the table in our room having a coffee before breakfast our view was what appeared to be an old , derelict greenhouse / storage building . Not exactly an appealing view to begin your day . When I mentioned this at check out I was told by the member of staff that another company deals with the website description and so nothing to do with him . A rather strange and dismissive response and not the lasting impression you want when leaving the hotel . Overall the hotel is a very enjoyable place to visit with several areas to relax on the ground floor . Sitting on the terrace overlooking the lake was fantastic and would thoroughly recommend it . A special mention for Lucien who did a fantastic job of providing cocktails and was very knowledgeable and proficient in this . A credit to the hotel . The hotel has so many good points that may , for some , outweigh the negatives around the room but unsure if we would return or recommend.

1. Location, the hotel is just by the lake, but it is a 30-minute drive from Windermere, and it is far from the Lake District. 2. Some rooms can accommodate an extra bed, 15 pounds a day, including breakfast. 3, the hotel is large and has a lot of parking spaces. 4. The meal is great, classic English. 5, the hotel toiletries are good, is the British Royal Development Supplies MB, the bathroom's heating rack is open in the summer, the towel will be done overnight.
