The evening meal was excellent really well cooked. I the main meal I had the pork, cider and mustard pie. With home made chips. Followed by the Baileys cheese cake. Very much recommend. I enjoyed the breakfast. And a great atmosphere. In the pub itself. The room was spacious and clean.

Super friendly pub and accommodation with delicious home cooked meals on the menu and a delicious cooked breakfast. The pub is perfectly located as a great jumping off point for walking and sailing at Rutland Water, made for a great weekend away.

We were staying in the area on a holiday and this pub was a walk away from where we stayed. We found it to be a nice local pub with a lovely pub garden with a nice seating area for a sunny evening and experienced friendly service would recommend to others!

A sorry saga, my wife and her sister had stayed here the two previous years and liked it as a base for going to BirdFair. This time the room we got was up narrow badly lit uneven stairs and had just one double bed with an old mattress and one chair. The bathroom toilet would not flush properly and my bedside light was not working, plus the doorway is only for people below 5" 8. I was disappointed but prepared to live with it, then during a very average meal there that night we were told of two live music events for the next two nights. Sure enough, next night we had an extremely loud medley of Queen songs directly underneath us until 11pm, then noisy guests leaving, not exactly ideal when you have to be ready to work next day. I went down to cancel the next night and got charged the full amount, so I complained and got a refund of GBP135 for one night for one room. The manager did not want to come and discuss our issues, being clearly preoccupied with being a Queen fan, but I did manage to get him and was then told it was all listed on the website and we shook have checked, despite having booked year ago when nothing was set. Result, a rip-off of GBP135, just dreadful

This beautiful pub/ restaurant was everything you could want. The food was superb: steaks were so fresh and perfectly cooked! We only had two courses so can’t tell you what the desserts are like, but the Brie wedges and garlic mushrooms made great starters. Extremely reasonably priced for the standard of food served. The staff were friendly, approachable and professional. Highly recommend this restaurant (which is just off the A1).

The accommodation was very dated and very disappointing. The smell and standard were awful to say the least. Noise from the bar was very loud and eventually when it did quiet down the visitors next door stumbled up the stairs and banged into our door then proceed to let us hear them throw up several times for about half n hour at about 12.30am. When we came down for breakfast, service was very slow just one person eventually apeared the couple we presume were our neighbours, the man then decided to start wrenching over his breakfast!!! We did at this point leave. We will not be returning. Sent from my Galaxy
