Awful place. Don’t be fooled by the buildings externals. Nobody should ever use this place ever again, shame on the owners. It’s disgusting what is taking place here and the owners should be ashamed of themselves

What you see is not at all what you get. Staff really unfriendly and not helpful at all, bar was freezing cold, information on site not correct, charged us 20£ too much for noisy, small, out of date rooms with view (through a broken window that could not be opened) on a container. Definitely not the 4 star they pretend to be

On arrival I had to follow the a4 paper signs sellotaped to the walls to find reception.. at reception there were staff talking to each other then I was asked over this talking who I was Formalities over I went to my suite to be greeted by a stained carpet. Black marks in the bottom of the loo. Stains on the side of the bed and no mattress protector Reception said if I could wait a while they could find me another room I asked if I could eat and was directed to the bar. That was closed Though on yet another visit to reception they insisted it was open All in all. DONT GO It’s awful and nothing like the website. There were other people complaining Would not recommend

Dreadful. We were booked on for 2 nights for a family wedding. Week before we went to check we're it was. What we saw was enough to cancel. The building itself is stunning . However encouraging Afghanistan refugees all over the place and filth everywhere was enough for us. Curtains off the hangers litter and unkempt outside area. Massive pot holes in the drive to the building. The land looked as if it has not been cut. Luck there was a drought !! All that money to stay there I don't think so. Read all the reviews first as it really is a disappointing place.

Booked and whilst on my holiday they cancelled . After 2 days of calling finally got through to someone , no apologies offered just stated they had a contract booking and now have to cancel all bookings. First of all you have a contract to honor with everyone that booked. They are obviously incompetent and Have no manners.

The hotel took my credit card scan as a deposit security on the room before final payment. Upon payment the following day the card hold wasn’t released and they have charged me an additional €100 on top on my room. I was told it cold take up to a week to release but it didn’t happen. I checked with my bank and they said the hotel has the payment. They are now ignoring my emails. Poor customer service when they have stolen from me.

Had high hopes for our break here but were disappointed. The building itself is fabulous and the grounds are spectacular but our room was dingy and drab. The carpet looked as if it needed a deep clean, there were holes in the walls where work had been done and not finished. The toilet seat didn't fit and the flush was weak. There was a grubby bathroom bin with no lid. The cap from the hot tap was missing and the plug was detached from the chain, making it difficult to remove from the plughole. Only tiny soap and one other small toiletry provided. Inadequate supply of tea bags and milk. Breakfast was an ordeal because there were not enough staff to replenish basic things like cereal bowls and drinks (although those in our party that chose cooked breakfasts thought they were OK). If we were visiting this area again, we would probably look for an alternative. (On a positive note, staff were friendly and helpful.)

Stoke Rochford Hall has had a few poor reviews over the last 15 months or so which made me wonder what to expect. Outside of the building is absolutely outstanding and the grounds around it are pleasing on the eye. Inside, well yes it is a bit tired, and could be so much more with a little investment, but what you currently get for your money is decent enough value. Some of the reviews on here have high expectations for what they are actually paying. Yes it’s a very grand building and it’s ‘4 star’, but given what you are being charged expectations should comfort rather than luxury. Comfortable it certainly is. Rooms are fine, and staff are courteous. Downside is the full English breakfast is not the best. All in all a strange hotel, in that it is stunning but is a bit like a tired premier inn in beautiful sandstone pile. Given its location, it’s history, it’s incredible Architecture and grounds it could with a little bit of investment be very grand. But it’s not, the focus seems to be on conferences and being over made for weddings. It’s okay and it’s certainly worth a visit for the building alone.

An amazing building in beautifully kept gardens but… Our room was not clean, skirting boards/headboard/bedside lamp thick with dust. They apologised and said it would be re cleaned but it wasn’t much better afterwards. No hand soap in the bathroom, no shower cap/ tissues / water, basic things you’d expect in 4*. No hot water in the morning, which was fixed but then boilers belching out black smoke which filled the air with a noxious smell. Massive potholes in road leading to the hotel which we found hard to avoid. Breakfast was very poor, boxed cereals full of sugar (cocoa pops/Frosties/ honey nut cornflakes - nothing ‘grownup’). Coffee in a huge container, instant decaf 🤮. Cheap sliced bread for toaster and Bain Marie’s with usual cooked items. As vegetarians we were brought 6 veggie sausages on a plate whilst we were eating our cereal, when we said they would be cold the staff member said he could take them away and put them under a hot plate. Very poor quality, other guests were laughing about their ‘wooden’ sausages. We cancelled breakfast the following morning. Don’t have a problem with shabby as this is a beautiful building but no excuse for uncleanliness and poor quality. Delightful Romanian receptionist seemed to be doing everything.
