Stoke Rochford Hall has had a few poor reviews over the last 15 months or so which made me wonder what to expect. Outside of the building is absolutely outstanding and the grounds around it are pleasing on the eye. Inside, well yes it is a bit tired, and could be so much more with a little investment, but what you currently get for your money is decent enough value. Some of the reviews on here have high expectations for what they are actually paying. Yes it’s a very grand building and it’s ‘4 star’, but given what you are being charged expectations should comfort rather than luxury. Comfortable it certainly is. Rooms are fine, and staff are courteous. Downside is the full English breakfast is not the best. All in all a strange hotel, in that it is stunning but is a bit like a tired premier inn in beautiful sandstone pile. Given its location, it’s history, it’s incredible Architecture and grounds it could with a little bit of investment be very grand. But it’s not, the focus seems to be on conferences and being over made for weddings. It’s okay and it’s certainly worth a visit for the building alone.
