The Wilderness Hotel
3.7/567 Reviews
Hotel has a great location, walking distance of the beach and shops. No parking within the hotel, but there is on street parking. the Hotel has been upgraded since the last time we have been there, but the wooden windows and doors seem very aged and contribute to a huge amount of dust and dirt in the room. The rooms are clean but the furniture might need a deep clean. Other than that above, it is not dirty or unpleasant to stay at. The staff try to assist wherever they can, Prudence at the front desk sorted out room issues on check in. the pool is outdoor, and seems to be well maintain. The put put, fusball table and table tennis kit needs some upgrading. Ample options for breakfast, staff on hand to assist. Our dietary requirements were adequately catered for. If you are aged or frail make sure you get a ground floor room or something close to reception as the hotel is fairly large and widely spready. Having said that, the breakfast area is on the first floor.
Botlierskop Private Game Reserve

We visited Botlierskop as day visitors to do a safari from horseback, and it was simply the most amazing thing I have ever done from the back of a horse. We did the 3.5 hour outride with our fantastic guide Victor. Both my husband and i are experienced riders, and if you are considering doing this, be honest about your riding skills. You will ride, at pace, over some steep terrain, on fast, fit, fearless little horses. But the best part of this is that you will get heartstoppingly close to some of the largest wild animals on the planet. Rhino, elephant, giraffe, antelope, everything except lions! It was thrilling. Your pictures will tell a story that you will carry for the rest of your life! This was a unique experience and I'm grateful to Victor for his knowledge in keeping us safe around these magnificent wild animals.
Hlangana Lodge

What an amazing gem in the heart of Oudtshoorn. From the arrival, everything was 5 star. The check in was seamless, there was welcoming drinks to cool us down after a long drive and the staff deserve a 10/10! My family were disappointed that I had only booked one night but made me promise that we would come back for a weekend very soon. And bonus, they even washed our car! You will definitely not be disappointed, this is one of the best hotels in Oudtshoorn!
Protea Hotel by Marriott Mossel Bay
4.2/568 Reviews
The location of the hotel is very good, next to the sea, there is a beach Free security at the entrance of the parking lot. There are supermarkets around. Pay attention to the business hours. When we arrived, it was Sunday and most shops were closed. The room is clean, but the washbasin is separated from the hot and cold water. I'm not used to it~ If you don't care about the money, it's better to book a balcony with a sea view The breakfast selection is also very rich. We had curry chicken that day Next to the hotel is a museum of the first Portuguese to land here There's a lighthouse a few kilometers away
Cinnamon Boutique Guest House

We had a great two night stay at this excellent guest house. The staff were lovely. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was delicious and was taken outside whilst watching the exotic birds in the beautiful oasis of a garden. It was a short and safe walk into the main village centre where there were independent and traditional shops, a terrific beach and great restaurants. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Cinnamon.
Sky Villa Boutique Hotel by Raw Africa Collection

It started already when we booked the place with ***********. The hotel did not accept their payment and on multiple attempts could not be reached by phone. Finally we got an email response about three weeks before arrival. Nerve wrecking. As well their system seems to be hacked as we got another payment request one day after check in. Not safe. The hotel is nice, nothing fancy, and definitely not five stars, 2-3 stars at best. Certain spots were dirty in the room and we had to clean ourselves. There was a huge sauce spill at the pool patio which was not cleaned during our entire stay. Filthy. Restaurant subpar, breakfast to forget about. On December 30 we waited more than one hour for our simple breakfast just to receive the wrong order and cold food. As well the apricot jam provided was already opened and used by another guest (!). Huge hygiene problem and lets me wonder what else is going on in the kitchen. Thankfully we did not eat there more often. The waitress was apologetic, defensive, started crying for no reason and clearly lacks training and professionalism. The breakfast selection was minimal, the buffet dismal for a supposed five star hotel. On December 29 we attended the bar and met some nice local people. I ordered a scotch and wanted to call it quits after that. Sydney the bartender was very pushy and asked me about ten times if I want another one. My answer was always no. To make things worse he suddenly asked me if I want to pay for tequila shots for a local couple. I was astonished about his predatory behavior. Me and my wife did not feel comfortable or safe around him at all. On check out, December 31, my wife got approached in the lobby by the same waitress who screwed up our breakfast, about wanting a tip. Staff clearly lacks emotional intelligence, training and guidance by non visible management. I don’t think we will be back or recommend this place to friends. I will choose future stays more carefully and will only rely on official rating sites, and not the rating the hotel provides themselves.
