The Wilderness Hotel
3.7/568 Reviews
Hotel has a great location, walking distance of the beach and shops. No parking within the hotel, but there is on street parking. the Hotel has been upgraded since the last time we have been there, but the wooden windows and doors seem very aged and contribute to a huge amount of dust and dirt in the room. The rooms are clean but the furniture might need a deep clean. Other than that above, it is not dirty or unpleasant to stay at. The staff try to assist wherever they can, Prudence at the front desk sorted out room issues on check in. the pool is outdoor, and seems to be well maintain. The put put, fusball table and table tennis kit needs some upgrading. Ample options for breakfast, staff on hand to assist. Our dietary requirements were adequately catered for. If you are aged or frail make sure you get a ground floor room or something close to reception as the hotel is fairly large and widely spready. Having said that, the breakfast area is on the first floor.
Botlierskop Private Game Reserve
4.5/58 Reviews
We visited Botlierskop as day visitors to do a safari from horseback, and it was simply the most amazing thing I have ever done from the back of a horse. We did the 3.5 hour outride with our fantastic guide Victor. Both my husband and i are experienced riders, and if you are considering doing this, be honest about your riding skills. You will ride, at pace, over some steep terrain, on fast, fit, fearless little horses. But the best part of this is that you will get heartstoppingly close to some of the largest wild animals on the planet. Rhino, elephant, giraffe, antelope, everything except lions! It was thrilling. Your pictures will tell a story that you will carry for the rest of your life! This was a unique experience and I'm grateful to Victor for his knowledge in keeping us safe around these magnificent wild animals.
88 Baron van Reede Guesthouse
4.8/574 Reviews
My wife and I have travelled extensively around South Africa for many years. I must state that 88 Baron van Reede Guesthouse is the best Guesthouse I have ever stayed at. Magda and Christoph are amazing hosts and leave no stone unturned to ensure your stay is memorable. The rooms are beautifully appointed and could not fault anything. The grounds are beautifully kept and the buildings themselves are immaculate. We had breakfast in the morning and what a great meal it was, beautifully prepared and served. An added bonus are the restaurants that are within walking distance which was great that we did not have to get back into the car to go out again. If you are planning to visit Oudtshoorn and need to overnight then go no further. This is the place to stay.
Blue Fern of Knysna
4.2/516 Reviews
The hotel on one side is in a very quiet place, on the other side to the center it is necessary to go 20 minutes. I didn't confuse the cemetery on the way, well confused people who gathered along the path at the fire. Well done. Apparently this is the trouble of the whole region-the electricity was shut down from morning to evening. Given that it could be either a diesel generator to start or candles to put in.
Garden Route Ilita Lodge
4.3/537 Reviews
A combination of hotel rooms and self-catering accommodation in an idyllic setting in the hills overlooking the Great Brak River valley and the Indian Ocean seafront. The views are simply wonderful, the restaurant and coffee shop offer good food at reasonable prices (especially on Tasty Tuesday, when there is a 1 for 1 offer at the coffee shop). The self-catering accommodation comes equipped with all the mod cons. Only downside is that there is no public transport to speak of, so you will need a car to get to/from the Lodge. The town is a nice 10-15 minute downhill walk, but getting back is ALL UPHILL. The small local town has art shops and a few cafes, but do not miss the Grasshopper factory outlet, where quality locally-made shoes and bags can be had for a fraction of their high street or on-line prices. There are private game reserves within a 30-minute drive offering viewing of some of the ”big 5”, and the town of Mossel Bay is nearby. Staff and service was extremely warm, friendly and helpful.
Hlangana Lodge

What an amazing gem in the heart of Oudtshoorn. From the arrival, everything was 5 star. The check in was seamless, there was welcoming drinks to cool us down after a long drive and the staff deserve a 10/10! My family were disappointed that I had only booked one night but made me promise that we would come back for a weekend very soon. And bonus, they even washed our car! You will definitely not be disappointed, this is one of the best hotels in Oudtshoorn!
