We stayed here with another couple and 4 dogs between us and it was fabulous. The rooms are so nice, we had an amazing mug view over the garden and river. Touches in the room for the dogs were wonderful. The evening meal was delicious, as was the breakfast hamper. It really felt like we were spoilt. Would definitely recommend and return. Staff were brilliant.

Sunday lunch for three after a walk on the moor. We had booked a table and the service was excellent. Fast polite and attentive enough without being overly intrusive. A delicious roast dinner with crack my crackling on the pork. We enjoyed it so much we even went for pudding. It was all priced competitively given the prices of these things these days

It started promising! Warm welcomed, sat promptly, and ordered accordingly. Starters came in good time and were delicious. My daughter’s main had to be changed as chicken goujons over cooked, this took over 30 mins to change. My main also had to be changed as lamb was mostly fat. I was then told I couldn’t have another lamb ‘because lamb is a fatty meat’ only when my daughter’s replacement meal arrived and was then offered the menu to reorder!. I then had to wait well over another 30 mins for my food. This ‘the chicken’ was ok. However, there was barely any jus, and the skin that had been included that I assume was meant to be crispy, was unappealing and like rubber. I didn’t enjoy my meal, and after making it known that we were not enjoying our experience I felt we were neglected. We were not asked if we wanted anymore drinks other then the ones we had originally ordered, 2 hours before. We were left to it until we needed to leave and then had to ask for our bill at the bar. Whilst my meal was deducted from the bill, we still paid a fair price for average food and average/poor service. I wouldn’t return or recommend which is such a shame.

Visited this pub/restaurant today for the first time, and certainly not the last. Four in our party for lunch. The menu was much better than the usual mundane offerings you get at a lot of the pubs, with some interesting twists. The service and food was superb. Thank you so much.

The food was amazing apart from we asked for medium to well done steak and it was bloody but was soon rectified but paying £32 for it you would think they would get that right. Offered water as soon as we sat down making it seem like it’s complimentary but was charged nearly £4 for it, glad we said no to the nibbles as they make that seem like it’s free (they didn’t say that but have been to places before where it is free) Was shocked to see the bill when they added 10% service charge, £1 for charity and only accept card payments all of which I was unaware of when I booked, also when you book you have to put your card details in and they charge you if you don’t turn up. It’s a real shame as I enjoyed the food so much but don’t think we’ll be returning

Once again a wonderful stay in this beautiful thatched Inn. Our room overlooked the stunning gardens. We were met by a warm and welcoming reception by the staff. As it was our anniversary the owners left us a lovely drink of prosecco and a card. Delightful touch. Room was so cosy comfy chesterfield and cosy bed. Lovely meal and friendly staff in the restaurant.. Thanks for a memorable stay. Hope to see you again soon.

We went for a lunch on a grey, dismal December day. The food was terrific and the service was excellent. We were made to feel very welcomed and the Team were friendly and efficient. The Scotch Egg had a crispy outer, very tasty sausage meat and the egg was cooked just right. The haddock had white, firm flakes together with hot and crispy chips. The Risotto was full of mushrooms and tasted delicious. The Stout cake was similar to a sticky toffee pudding and finished the meal off perfectly. We left feeling very full and very happy - even the weather seemed a little brighter! I highly recommend the Bearslake Inn.

We stopped here on our coast to coast cycle route because it’s near the Granite way (although it’s a steep ride down). The house is beautiful with its traditional thatched roofs and oak beams. The staff were very inviting and friendly so we had a drink at the bar whilst we waited to be shown to our room (not complementary I add). The room was lovely and it was nice to have a small bath after our long cycle. We also ate in the restaurant and food was equally good. There are a few reasons I didn’t give 5 stars: -the biggest downside was the WiFi. No normal reception so you rely on it. The WiFi only worked in certain part of th building (if I stood by our room door and downstairs in the bar) but this is fixable using better routers and more of them despite thick walls. -before arrival I felt slightly pressured to book a table when I had no idea what time we would get there. I understand you like to plan but this is supposed to be a relaxing holiday. Keeping a table for your guests might be good. -the pillows were a bit hard but that might be just me -extra charge £5 for charging our e-bikes but we then had to get the key each time to swap batteries and we could not have checked out before 8am as that’s when reception is open. - the cost was quite high at £190 for somewhere in the middle of nowhere although we did book a triple room as no other was left All in all it was a very nice place but it seemed a little too focussed on making top bucks. The staff are all amazing however so they did a fab job in making us feel welcome and I would stay here again if I could get a lower priced room.
