We have been loyal users of paradors for 30 years. In fact it used to be that we only stayed in Paradors when available during our visits to Spain. Many wonderful experiences. Sadly that is no longer the case and our experience here was simply mediocre at best. Our room and view were both pleasant but the furniture was old and uncomfortable, particularly the couch which was like sitting on a rock. They only had one coffee in the room and powdered milk. During our previous week in Spain no other hotel provided such poor amenities. Our experience in the restaurant was no better. We made a reservation and were promptly seated with a menu. The management decided only one person would take orders so despite the place being empty at 845 it took 20 minutes to order. The food was great and the servers did their best but at the end of the meal the management decided only one person would clear the table, which for us never happened after 25 minutes. So people just started leaving and demanding the bill as did we. Never asked about dessert nor the quality of our food nor for coffee! A sad experience not the fault of the workers or kitchen but of the manager of the front end. It is sad that the paradors have fallen so far as we adored them but this is our final stay when hospitality is so well done in beautiful and enchanting España.

As Amigo members from previous Spain trips we booked this Parador based on the history and reviews and had high expectations. We booked the Amigo rate rather than the early bird rate expecting some extra benefits for the additional Euros. That was not the case. We offered in house parking and were charged 21 Euros when spaces were free outside. A room upgrade offered was 15 Euros more but the room ended up smaller. Whilst the room was nice, well furnished, historic etc and we were happy with that it was more the explanations that were simply not there. We had paid for half board but when we went to dinner and breakfast there was no explanation of what we were entitled to. We sat and waited but nothing. We had to ask the waiter - and then because of language difficulties and even using Google translate we were left wondering what was going on. Whilst eventually the meals were good we were left feeling disappointed.

Like many this was our first stay in a Parador. We didn't know what to expect. It says 4 star but it felt like something much better. The quick and courteous check in with Nacho and Nerea was a delight. The room was extremely comfortable and very spacious. What I loved was the cleanliness. The cleaning staff must be the best in Spain. At the restaurant we were treated very nicely and had amazing food on our plates at exactly the right time. Our free breakfast was one on the best we have had in years. This hotel is first class in every way and we commend the manager for his excellent leadership. We strongly recommend a stay at this Parador. Thank you to all the team!

Friendly service. Good view because the Hotel is almost on the top of the hill. The server in the restaurant is nice. One morning I rushed to attend the Mass and asked her to pack up my food for later used. Honestly it is not allowed. Once she knew my intention, she was happy to do it for me. I have to say thanks. Furthermore the people working in the reception are also helpful and friendly. Always 😀

The beauty of this Parador is that it is situated at the entrance to the medieval village of Sos del Rey Católico. It was once a manor house but has obviously been extended since becoming a hotel. Writing about the hotel itself, the room we had offered everything we needed including a kettle that the hotel had kindly provided for us avid tea drinkers! The room had a balcony with two chairs and a table, the view from it being wonderful. The hotel had plenty of public rooms and a large restaurant with a balcony in front of it with again great views over the plain and to the mountains in the distance. We were there for 2 nights having dinner both evenings, both of which we enjoyed. As with the other Paradors we had stayed in, the breakfasts again consisted of an extensive cold buffet with the option to have a hot dish. Again, we enjoyed them. One of the most enjoyable things was sitting on the hotel’s balcony outside the restaurant early on our last evening. We sat there enjoying a gin and tonic with beautiful classical music playing in the background and looking out over the beautiful view. So relaxing. Throughout our stay, all the staff were friendly and helpful, something which appears to be a positive trend for the Paradors. Moving on now from the hotel to some of the benefits it offers given it’s location at the entrance to the village. It is located on a hill and is basically a walled village with a number of entrance ‘gates’. The hotel kindly gave us a map of the village which highlighted the key building. This helped us to identify the 18th century Isidore Gil de Jaz school, Sada’s palace, the San Esteban church and other old buildings. Well worth doing. We also did a couple of walks into the countryside, one to the Valentuñana Monastery, both of which we enjoyed. So, overall a great stay.

This was our first stay in a parador and we loved it. It was located on the edge of the village with views over the surrounding countryside. It is a good base for exploring the area . The room was comfortable and clean. We had booked a half board package and enjoyed the menu together with good service.

The Parador de SOS is not an old building, but has been built to blend in with the lovely mediaeval town in which it stands. We booked a superior room with balcony and were very pleased with our choice. The hotel has a lovely cafeteria bar on the top floor with views over the valley and an excellent restaurant. The hotel has car parking.
