Noticed that this place didn’t have a single 2020 review so wanted to share my experience from end of Aug. 2020 (4 night stay, couple). Summary: nice place, great location, good staff, but a lot of surprises which can leave a bitter taste. Perfect for a 2 night stay, beyond that it goes a bit downhill (cleaning). Also, avoid room 3, the other rooms are much better (better decor, newer AC, newer TV...). Location: excellent, walking distance from everything BUT please note as other reviews have flagged that the ‘hotel’ is in the third floor and there’s no lift (Photo of stairs attached, you’d go up 6 of these). Staff: friendly, they work hard to make sure you have a pleasant stay, even if when they are not actually around. They went out of their way and gave us a new room after a cleaning ‘misunderstanding’ (that’s when we moved from room 3!) Hotel: nice modern decor (unless you get room 3 which is dated) but be prepared this is really more of an Airbnb, here’s why: (1) No ones there most of the time. Staff are around 7:00-12:00 to make ‘breakfast’ and supervise cleaning, the rest of the time you’re on your own (even for check-in). (2) There are a many details / caveats which were not communicated in advance and can be a surprise when you stumble on them... - Breakfast buffet: cancelled due to COVID. You now get a tray with warmed croissants, a yogurt and a tea/coffee/chocolate (shame but I get it..) - Cleaning: only done once every 2 days, does NOT include a change of bed linen. We got back after a long, exhausting hot day in Positano and found the bed hadn’t been cleaned after 2 days... (turns out fresh linen is an EXTRA €20, no matter how long your stay). Also I have my reservations about the ‘cleaning’ thoroughness in general. - Towels: same as cleaning, only changed once every 2 days. If you want a fresh towel sooner EXTRA €20. If they forget to change your towel, you’re in trouble as there’s no one around. - Hot water: each room has a 30L boiler (photo). If you take a medium/long shower, prepare to be cold or have to wait for hot water to heat up again. Same issue if two people want to take consecutive showers. Not terrible but not ideal. - Everything is locked, so if you run out of shampoo don’t expect to get any until the next day (there’s a supermarket 5mins walk though) Advice to hotel: if you want to up your game and be a place for longer stays then cleaning is the place to start. Introduce daily cleaning (proper cleaning where my suitcase actually gets picked up and cleaned under, where the room is really tidied and made to feel fresh, and where things like the remote control are properly disinfected), fresh towels daily, fresh bed linens on request (but FREE) and be upfront with anything that isn’t included as standard. Also, would be cool to have the option of someone being there at check-in (e.g. customer picks a 1h slot) to ‘introduce’ the room, help with luggage and make this a more welcoming experience. This “hotel” is a few rooms on the top two floors of a small apartment building. There is no breakfast available despite what is listed on TA. Guests are not allowed to use the elevator after 10 PM until eight the following morning (despite a posted sign that says they turn off the elevator at 11). I have stayed in many places that do not have a 24 hour reception, but none of them turn off the elevator! guests who have any difficulty with stairs would be well advised to stay away. My room was a remodeled attic, with no windows, and the ceiling so low that I kept bumping my head. They claim they make breakfast available because it is possible to eat at a café a few minutes walk away. Pointing out that another business offers a service at another location is not making something available: it’s a simple deception. The hotel is located in the quiet pedestrian zone of Sorrento about 20 minutes walk from the train station. except for the sound of pigeons, my room was quiet and had a modern looking bathroom, a flatscreen TV, a mini fridge, and a coffee machine. it’s really quite easy to find; there is a sign on the building on the main corso street. all you have to do is duck through an archway under the cathedral tower a few yards further on and double back on the back street to find the hotel entrance opposite a restaurant. It is convenient for the many restaurants and tourist shops of the old city only two or three blocks away. That said, it did not meet my needs and I will not be staying here again.

We stayed here for one night in April 2023. Given some of the previous reviews we were more than pleasantly surprised. Our stay started well, the lady on reception (whose name we can’t remember) was extremely welcoming and helpful. We were upgraded to a road facing superior room which had been newly refurbished. It was lovely with a great bathroom. We were worried about the traffic noise but with the balcony doors closed it was fine. We would not recommend spending a long time on the balcony given the main road location but there is a pool area with plenty of outside space. The bar was very good and well run. The bar prices were competitive. The hotel is a ten to fifteen minute walk to Piazza Tasso. Located near the hotel is the excellent Banana Split Bar and Master Hosts Restaurant (don’t be put off by the name, we found the food really good and the prices reasonable). There is also a pub next to the hotel, but we did not try that. The breakfast is as others have said not a four star breakfast hence our score of four not five.

Hotel breakfast is good, equivalent to the star hotel level, save the hotel method: from the pier, then take a 1 euro lift, reach the above city (photo 1), then walk 8 minutes through the small square to reach the Grand Plaza (with flags , photo 2), then take the main street (walking path, photo 3), various shops on both sides, you can buy drinks in the fries shop of photo 4, and take a rest on the chair opposite the church door (photo 5) (also Take a drink at the roadside bar), then continue on, go down the slope on the side of the hospital (square), turn left at 50 meters, walk for 7 minutes, reach the road junction where you can drive, then Turn right and walk 100 meters across the road (passing an uphill parking lot) and you are at the hotel.

We looked at reviews after booking this hotel and were nervous we had made a massive mistake. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely Italian lady at the desk who also decided to change our rooms so we would be over looking the pool instead of the street just because they had the rooms available, the rooms were lovely and clean lots of large towels, extra pillows in the wardrobe so we had two each instead of just one, Wi-Fi in reception which also worked in our rooms, the pool was open and was lovely and refreshing, a little dangerous for children as there is about a foot drop from the pool edge to the water level, the pool floor was also slippery and a massive steep drop to the deep end which was very deep so just be sure to have floating aids, we didn’t get to have dinner but we did have breakfast which was lovely and there was lots of options to choose from, all the staff were lovely, kind and couldn’t do enough for us, the morning we left we had to be ready before breakfast started but they let us have coffee’s and the chef even brought us a plate of pastries whilst we waited for our transport, I probably wouldn’t stay here for a two week holiday but if your traveling through the area or staying for a few days like we were then it is perfect, i honestly do wish we could of stayed more than a few days. I don’t know if maybe they have just made huge improvements after negative reviews but we couldn’t believe it was the same hotel in the reviews, it was a lovely place :)

What a sweet and unusual hotel in a busy little tourist city! From the staff that get to know your name on the first day, to helping with extra needs, we had the best customer care while at the Grand Hotel La Favorita. It's location is ideal, close to great dining and shopping and don't miss their sister restaurant a few blocks away! It's a hidden gem on the main walking/shopping street. It's like a magical garden with fantastic food and more great service. We did talk to a few others who said they get very crowded so dining earlier guarantees better service. Lastly, do'nt miss the rooftop bar with a beautiful sunset!

Stayed here four nights in May 2022. A superb hotel, we would definitely stay here again. Staff were really helpful and friendly, particularly the restaurant staff. The restaurant was great: we had lunch when we arrived (and another lunch by the pool), and two dinners. Better than other outings in Sorrento. Breakfast was great, a good choice, including bacon and scrambled eggs. Lots of fruit, yogurts, and coffee was good! Room was beautiful, great bathroom, terrific shower. Beautiful balcony overlooking the sea. Comfy bed, and we were able to log into our Netflix account! Spent a lazy day by the pool, warm enough to swim, a delicious lunch too. That was after a great massage at the spa. An indulgence day, just perfect. We thought the hotel might be too remote, but it was ideal. Definitely would not recommend staying in Amalfi, Positano or Capri, they're pretty but tourist traps. Capri, you really need someone else's bank account. Sorrento was the other option, but we're glad we chose here. The bus to Sorrento stops right outside the bus, and takes about 15 minutes to town. You're a walk away from Massa Lubrense, but there's no footpath, we didn't risk it. At reception, pick up a brochure for Soc, Coop. Marina della Lobra, a water tour company. They leave from the port near Massa Lubrense, and pick you up from the hotel (less than 5 mins to harbour). Much better than the chaos of Sorrento, very friendly crew, and lovely clean neat boats. We did Amalfi/Positano and also Capri. Just perfect. Really recommend this company. And finally, the piece de resistance: the view from our balcony. After arriving, we had lunch and went to bed early. Woke up in the morning at about 7, to see the early morning sun glowing on the cliffs of Capri. Now that's romantic! Idyllic. We also had a lovely sunset over Ischia. Breathtaking. You wouldn't get this anywhere else. So, definitely don't stay on the Amalfi coast. If you're thinking of staying in Sorrento, (which is a real town, not just a freak clutching onto a cliff), consider this gorgeous hotel. I would totally recommend it to anyone.

We stayed for 11 nights at the La Solara hotel and despite the iffy weather (an unusual depression over all of Europe) we had the best time. We received a warm welcome (though be prepared for your room not being ready until 1600) and were shown to our room overlooking the sea. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff really make it a special place. There is a network of paths across the Sorrento peninsula which can be accessed from the back of the hotel - the lovely reception staff will give you the local maps. There was plenty of choice at dinner in the evening - the pastas are very good as is the meat and fish cookery, though the veg is a little overcooked for modern British tastes. The Gala dinner on a Sunday was a happy event and we will undoubtedly return to this gem of a hotel again. Thank you

I stayed at the seven hostel at the end of May 2021 and I was wonderful by the cleanness, the quality of the individual rooms and the high level of service decent of a very good hotel 3*. The team is also beautiful, Paolo will always be there to give you his good advice from the former tourist guide of the Amalfitaine region, Francesca with his goodness and good deals with the different partners of the hostel, and without forgeting also The rest of the staff laughing, welcome and especially listening to all your needs.
