Best Hotels near Camping Poncione, Sorico

Great location, close to train station and lake. Hotel is small and a little tired, in need of a facelift, it offers an adequate breakfast, we had to ask for hot water for a cup of tea each morning as this wasn't readily available to help yourself. We chose half board option which is taken in the adjoining pizza restaurant. There is a 3 course menu offered and the food was very average, the pizzas were amazing though! The staff in the restaurant were extremely over- stretched and there were long waits for food with some drinks requests completely over-looked. The restaurant staff worked extremely hard and there efforts were admirable given the staff shortage problem. Special mention to Concetto and Francesca who were both very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Rooms were tired and in need of renovation, as was the public area I would rate this as an average 3 star hotel, but we had an amazing holiday and it is good value for money.

We had a mixed experience at the hotel. Firstly, the hotel is great. The staff at the reception and concierge is very nice and helpful. The room is comfortable and since we took the lake view balcony room it was amazing. They have a very nice bar at the hotel with a nice poolside with some amazing views of lake Como. The location is also convenient just 10 mins from the train station. The only bad experience I had was today afternoon at their bar. They have a very weird rule that if you want to sit at the bar you have to order minimum 1 drink per person. I understand this rule is fair for outsiders but I think this rule shouldn’t be applicable for hotel guests. Anyways, my wife and I were sitting and the waiter came saying we cannot sit if we don’t order drinks. (This is when half the bar was empty btw). We told him no worries just bring us water, we’ll have that and immediately leave. First he refused but after that he said ok. But he didn’t bring us water for 25 minutes while he was still serving guests who even came after us. When I went up to complain at the bar, Daniele at the bar started shouting at me saying I need to be patient because it takes time! Huh? How much time for a glass of water? Then he started saying you should order 2 drinks instead of just 1. I think this completely ruined my experience of the hotel and this is not how guests should be treated. Especially when you’re charging around 800 USD per night. I mean , common! I even went up to complain at the reception about this but they didn’t really seem to care

Stayed here on a recent motorcycle trip. As we were travelling on motorbikes we make a point of contacting the hotels in advance to check that the restaurant on site will be open. We had a confirmation email advising that the restaurant would be open. On check in we were advised that the bar and restaurant was closed, however there is a bar opposite and a good restaurant a short walk down the road. The hotel is easy to find on a main road and we were able to park our motorcycles in the underground garage. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The advice about the restaurant down the road was very good and the we had great meal there. However on our return to the hotel we were asked to pay our bill as the manager/owner wanted a lay in the next morning. This meant we had to drag our fellow travellers out of bed to pay as they had returned to the hotel ahead of us. The next morning, all of the other guests were settling their bills as they checked out.

We had no plans to stay in Domaso, but because we wanted to do paragliding in Gera Lario and our pick up could not have been arranaged for farther places, we chose to stay at Domaso. We looked for this property and booked it instantly for its affordable pricing and beautiful views. PROS: - The view- its literally the best of all things. the property has it own private beach area an so overlooks the beautiful Lake Como. It is the perfect combination of Hills, Lake and lush greens. -The area is very quiet and non touristy and that makes it beautiful -The staff at the hostel is super helpful and nice. -They have a restaurant of their own with a bar and the menu is varied and affordable -The breakfast spread is nice -They have lounge chairs that you can use without any cost on the lake front -There are lots of activities around the area like kayaking, cycling, surfing etc. - The hostel dorms are decent but with that view you will hardly stay in the room CONS: The area around gets secluded at night and shops close early so its better to stock up on essentials. You can reach this hostel by taking a train from Milan to Colico and then from Colico take a bus to Domaso ( a bful 20 min ride). We went to Bellagio from Domaso by taking a bus to Mennagio and then ferry to Bellagio.
