I booked the apartment through the Arctic Hotel, thinking it was part of it. I realised that the Hotel only manage the apartments for the owners and takes no responsibility for the facilities. My booking experience with Anna at reservation over the phone was excellent, helped me with all the date changes without a fuss and was very helpful. Once I reached the hotel and collected my keys, I was made aware that the Hotel only provides the reservation for the apartment but is not responsible for anything else. The reception staff was too cold and unwelcoming, contrary to all other places we visited in Finland and Norway. The apartment was a reasonable size, with two small bedrooms. The kitchen had very basic amenities and no microwave. There was no washing machine, as usually expected in an apartment stay. The kitchen amenities were bare and minimal. The apartment had amazing views from the Balcony with a good chance of seeing Aurora from the living room, but there was no way to switch off the balcony light, and it was too illuminated. The hotel staff did not help in finding if there was a switch for the lights to turn off. Overall, Sommaroy apartments are beautifully located, reasonable apartments which can be amazing to stay if looked after with a bit more love.
