Der Postwirt

A wonderful hotel. I think this hotel is my favourite out of all the hotels I have stayed in! Everything was lovely. The food was great, the room was great and the pool area was great. The staff were really friendly and we especially lovesd our server 'Kamal'. If you're thinking about booking this hotel, just do it!

Small room, but okay for a solo guest, with a big, comfortable bed, and looked recently renovated. The hotel spa also looked recently renovated, was nice, and surprisingly quiet in the evenings. Good location, close to town centre, ski shuttles and post bus stop. Basically, nearly everything about my stay was good, hence the high rating. However, I do have a few niggles and feedbacks. Everything was very clean, although one day I did have an unsettling experience regarding my quilt cover. My bedding was changed every day (which was surprising in itself – I’ll explain that later), and one day my quilt cover had what appeared to be blood stains. The stains seemed to be dried in, had survived washing, so probably could do no harm, but it still bothered me. I was surprised that Hotel Postwirt would continue to use such a badly stained quilt cover on a guest bed; most hotels would just have thrown it out if they couldn’t get it clean. Regarding bedding, the hotel’s guest information leaflet stated that changing bedding would incur a charge of 20 Euros, which was worrying since my bedding was routinely changed every day. I wondered if I’d have a 140 Euros bedding charge on my bill at check-out time, comparable to the despicable ‘resort charge’ one gets in many American hotels. I didn’t, which makes me wonder why the hotel feels the need to put such a worrying and provocative statement on the guest information leaflet. Most hotels in this class wouldn’t risk worrying all its guests for the sake of a few who might, for some reason, need and request an unscheduled bedding change, they’d just do it at no charge as a courtesy. Regarding eating arrangements, the breakfast buffet was nice, but the buffet area seemed small as a function of the size of the hotel; getting breakfast could be a bit of a scrum. Dinner was good, but again, I have a few niggles. As often happens to me as a solo traveller, I was given the worst table in the restaurant. I was seated in a strange little nook at the edge of the dining room, pressed upon on two sides by walls. Why do hotels give solo guests the worst table? As if eating alone isn’t depressing enough. I wish all hotels were like a hotel I visited in Hinterglemm; they gave me one of the best dinner tables in the restaurant with a great view over floodlit pistes. Hotel Postwirt likes to give the impression of an upmarket evening dining experience, but I wasn’t convinced. The hotel has a dinnertime dress code, but it wasn’t followed by all guests and not enforced by staff. Additionally, some guests sat at table playing loud audio from their smartphones, and despite my requests, dining room staff were reluctant to ask them to stop. Makes having live dinner time music seem pointless. I recommend the hotel adds “no smartphone audio allowed” to its list of dining room protocols and automatically challenges anyone who does so. Beautiful hotel, magnificent facilities, great location, warm people, attention to detail, nice food, comfortable modern rooms and superb Tyrolean hospitality! Top class all round. Price is what you pay, value is what you receive and that is the case in Der Postwirt. The entire family had a brilliant week, in no small part down to team here. If in doubt, go for it, you won’t be disappointed

Just back from an excellent week at Der Postwirt. An exceptional hotel, something we told Herr Bliem and his team last night. Everything is immaculate and spotlessly clean. The staff are all brilliant and friendly which makes the stay all the more enjoyable. The food, as usual, was sublime and plentiful, which really suited my 16 year old son. Our third stay and we will definitely continue to go back.

Nothing was too much trouble before our arrival and during our stay . We went with friends who had three young children and everyone had an amazing time . Pool areas are beautiful and great fun . All staff friendly and helpful. It’s is an amazing hotel and would visit again just not so late in the ski season as most things had closed down in the village of Soll. Thank you for an amazing stay

After checking many available accommodation around the Ski Welt, we ended up at Der Postwirt. It is located in the town centre of Soll, an attractive "village" style town with a mix of traditional and modern buildings. A warm welcome was given and we were directed to our rooms. Compact but very comfortable with a nice balcony. We were located in the older building of this large hotel. Traditionally, very Austrian, clean & tidy throughout. Dining area is beautifully decorated with a good mix of traditional timber and modern fixtures. The food could not be faulted at either breakfast or evening meal. An unexpected great touch was afternoon snacks & drinks ( non alcohol). Soup, chicken wings etc with bread & cakes all included! Coffee machine also. This was all looked forward to after a day skiing. Live entertainment a couple of evenings, in the bar, which has a lovely atmosphere and hard working staff keeping our drinks full, thank you. Ski bus stop just around corner takes you straight to the main gondola, in a matter of minutes. No need to pay for a locker as equipment room is more than adequate. Spa areas are stunning and lovely views from the pools. Overall this Hotel would get 5 stars from our party. Thank you to all the helpful, friendly staff throughout our stay.
