This was my very first time at this hotel and to my surprise I was treated very rudely. upon arrival Pearl kept telling me that my reservation couldn't be granted because I was not an Elite member even though I have already paid and had a text message saying my room was ready. She also asked me how many breakfast did I need and I let her know one is on the reservation so 1 would be fine clearly a question that did not need to be asked because it was buffet style. she was very judging of me and made me feel very uncomfortable I don't think I would ever get a room at this hotel again. I was here simply for a birthday getaway and she made the check-in horrible and very difficult. She told me that the hotel did not do early check-in and that there were no more rooms on the fourth floor which I had previously reserved days ago. After coming downstairs explaining that I was in a room with less amenities and on second floor, different than I reserved she act like I was doing something wrong and being rude where I felt to apologize to her when she actually should have been apologizing to me. Pearl gave me eye rolling as though she had an attitude for a reason I do not know. She kept repeating herself saying that check-in was at 3 p.m. but I reserved early check-in and was notified that the room was ready. She went into the computer and told me that she had to move a guy named Peter and put me there and kept hushing up the other receptionist as though no one should know that I was going to the 4th floor. She made like she was doing me a favor and that I wasn't supposed to be there. She made a lot of commentary during the check in that was very rude comments. When I finally checked into the room on the fourth floor it was exactly the room that I had reserved for my birthday for some reason she wanted to give it to someone else and gave me a bunch of grief of over it

Super 8 by Wyndham Dixon/UC Davis

The bed had filthy soiled sheets, with bright orange stains as well as other stains. We were unable to reach anyone in the office by the house phone and by going to the front office. We then started calling from our phones and finally someone answered only to be met with rudeness. Scolded for being in the room and not going to bed until now, implying we made the stains. They refused to give us any names, refused to meet in person, refused to come up and check out the room, would not provide any housekeeping, new sheets or change to a clean room. After hanging up, they called back and said they put clean sheets in the hallway for us to pick up. This process took over 2 hours. It was by then past 1 am. I could have slept in the car, tried to go to another hotel and pay for another room... but I was tired. I made the bed, grabbed my own blankets... putting one over the sheets and one on top of me and went to sleep. To this day the refuse any accountability and went so far as to say they were ”courteous” at all times. I travel quite often. This room was not cleaned. There was barely any toilet paper... about a quarter roll. After going through all that, I was not about to call them again. I used my own wipes. I have never experienced anything like this, from the horrible room conditions to the complete lack of consideration and accountability from the staff. This is a time of COVID. Cleaning should be a given. To not even receive an apology, to be scolded for being in the room and not turning down the bed immediately, to being accused of lying, to literally beg for clean sheets at a minimum.... I have no understanding as to how they validate treating customers like this, especially during these tense times with COVID issues.

Comfort Inn

Comfort Inn

Antioch
We needed to stay overnight in Antioch to be ready for a medical procedure the next day. Comfort Inn met our needs for a comfortable place to stay, close-ish to the Kaiser medical center, and with breakfast included. Here’s what we liked. Contemporary-styled room with a comfortable bed, blankets, and pillows. Very good blackout shades on the window. Easy-to-use door keycard, and adequate locks on the door. Flat-screen TV. Chaise lounger in the room. Refrigerator and coffeemaker provided. Full-length mirror in the bathroom, in addition to the well-lit vanity mirror. Ceiling fan in the bathroom (a must). Toiletries are provided. Very good breakfast with a variety of choices including waffles, mini-cheese omelets, sausage, breads and pastries, cold cereals, instant oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit (apples, oranges, bananas), coffee, and juices. The friendly front-desk staff graciously gave us later checkout when we requested. Some quirky things that weren’t a problem, but were just odd: Artwork (SF city-scapes and coastal scenes) were hung comically high on the walls. Shower door looked like it once had a barn-door-style slider section (hardware was there) but there was no slider door. Half of the glass shower wall was open to the rest of the bathroom. Bad caulking job made the upscale-style shower look cheap. Refrigerator and coffeemaker were inside the bathroom—I’ve never seen that before. Some misses that we didn’t like: The floor was not clean. It was sticky like a movie theater, and we found hairs here and there. This was so odd, since the rest of the room was so very clean! The bathroom was missing some of the baseboard. There were only 3 tissues in the box provided. The toilet was loose, not secured well to the floor. We booked this hotel thinking it would be a bit nicer than its nearby competitors. If we return, however, we will likely try one of them instead, just for comparison. It’s too bad—a little maintenance and clean floor would have made this hotel our go-to when in the area.
