We had a large family gathering at The Cabin in Blue Ridge and overall our stay was okay. The good: The property is beautiful with rolling green hills and friendly horses that come say hello; the house is well stocked and spacious, and can easily accomodate large groups; the views are perfect for rocking chair evenings watching the fireflies. The WiFi worked well. The potential of this property is undeniable, but... The bad: The cabin is just not "stay ready" and is in desperate need of better upkeep and general TLC. The AC never worked during our stay making for 80 degree evenings which made sleeping anywhere but downstairs difficult. And to make it worse, the AC "technician" who made an appearance vaped in the downstairs and it reeked the remainder of our stay. Unpleasant. The hot water to the master bathroom does not work whatsoever. Every closet space is packed with "stuff" and unuseable. The furnishings are well past their prime, especially the living room couches which are leather sinkholes. The downstairs is unfinished with exposed studs and a sheet of drywall serving as an impromptu doorway cover in the corner.Sherman and Kirby were very nice and communicated well, but the shortcomings of the cabin were hard to ignore. So much potential for this property if only it would be completed and the deficiencies addressed. I do recommend the property but renters should be aware of its condition and inquire about the state of utilities.

Breathtaking Views
Our family trip to Cabin in the Blue Ridge was perfect. The cabin was large enough to accommodate our group, with beds to spare. The kitchen had everything we needed, even large pots and pans, plenty of baking sheets, 2 coffee pots, and two ovens, plus there's a huge table for meals, and board games. There are bathrooms on each of the three floors, which is nice when you have a group. There was plenty of seating on the porches and the views from every side were just stunning. We could see horses and cows grazing on the hillsides, and the horses even visited one morning, we woke up with them right outside the window. We walked the trails, and the kids had fun following the trail map and sign posts. If you're looking for a place for a large group, and if you appreciate a rustic, country atmosphere, this cabin is a great choice. We are already talking about a return trip.

Nice Getaway Just Needs Cleaning & Maintenance
Kirby the property manager was responsive & available for phone calls & texts so that made the stay easier. There were so many dead bugs, though, all over the home, including in and on the bedding! I washed the bedding we were going to sleep on, as well as swept the whole place, before bringing our things in, because it hadn't been done in a while, so it appeared. The bathtub on the main floor was spewing water out of the connection pipe, Kirby said it was recently replaced & must of just not gotten on tight. The sink in the same bathroom is clogged. The bathtub in the laundry room bathroom is stuck on shower. The shower upstairs shot water to the toilet when you turned it on. Couches are shot, you sit down and go to the floor! Pool table is a nice addition. Pillows are FLAT, bring your own - wish I'd known bc I've got metal in my neck & it has to be supported. Stop and get gas & ice on the way in as well as anything you may need, it's a 30 min drive each way to a store that may have essentials at the gas station. WE are booked for the 2nd stay in April for my son's wedding, and I pray it's cleaner with linens replaced and pillows replaced, and the plumbing fixed!

Not for winter stays - Needs more attention to details
Though there are both pros and cons, the con related to the inadequate heating for a home this size in winter became dominant. I organized this family gathering and the lack of adequate heat became an unfortunate focus. The heat could not get the house above 66 in mild winter temps, and once the outside temps dropped to the teens the house temperatures dropped to the 50s. This is despite us starting a fire in the wood stove and keeping it going all day. The temps stayed between 56-68 (at the warmest times of the day) in the main living area; other parts of the house were much colder. The digital thermostat even issued a warning of "call for service". Obviously, the cold became an undue focus and a source of complaints by the family, and as the organizer of this gathering an embarrassment. The host apologized but no remedy during our stay -possibly because no service technician available- but nevertheless this was not our fault and a big detriment to the enjoyment of our stay. I had hoped the host would reach out afterwards and offer some type of refund, but after 2 weeks, no outreach. This review follows that delay. Now the rest - Pros: Rustic, quaint setting with horses on property, large kitchen moderately equipped. Christmas decorationsCons: several of the bedrooms have no curtains so difficult to sleep in (received complaints); several missing light bulbs (I fixed) and malfunctioning light (uselessly dim) in master; only 2 dish-washing pods. No kindling/paper available.

Motorcycle trip
Excellent! We have been coming to this area for ten years with our motorcycles. Our group gets bigger every year. We needed ten beds and enough room for our trucks and trailers so this property worked perfect. We had one issue with the AC but that was fixed quickly. Contact with the management was easy and quick to respond.
Would definitely recommend this property!

Great Thanksgiving Stay
We had a great time staying at this house for our family thanksgiving. Beautiful property, plenty of room for everyone, hiking trails on site and a short drive away. The basement was a cold some nights when the fire went out, so some more space heaters would have been great and a few more house flies then we would have liked but no big deal. Kirby was very responsive and helpful! Over all a great memorable stay. I would highly recommend!

Seasonal Bugs & Driveway rocks & ruts
This was the second stay in this vacation home in 8 years. The remote location and the size of the gathering areas are a plus as is the bonfire pit and the surrounding hills which are beautiful in the Fall. However, the driveway is treacherous, especially in wet weather when the mud and potholes prevail. Our van scraped on the rocks as it climbed the hill to the house. When we entered, there were dead and dying bugs on nearly every surface, including the pillows and sheets. The property management team member assigned to us refused to come back out to clean after our arrival. This made for a continual process of sweeping up the carcasses during the stay taking away family time. There were other issues with the home that surfaced during our time there, the property management team has been advised of these concerns separately.
