We enjoyed our stay at The Plough. While the rooms are basic and the water pressure was poor, it is a nice quaint pub/bed and breakfast. The staff were friendly and the included breakfast was excellent.

Many reviews say this is a warm and friendly pub, we didn’t experience anything of the sort, but more like the complete opposite! My registered disabled wife attempted to use the toilet before considering use of the bar / food facilities, but she was greeted with complete animosity and told to leave all because she wanted to use the toilet first! We certainly wouldn’t recommend this pub.

A small Green King pub in Sleights that you must stop at if you are heading to Whitby or leaving and have not eaten as you found the prices and crowds too much in that town. The fish had just been delivered when we got there and both the cod and scampi were sumptuous and the chips to die for plus the tartar sauce was home made and delish plus the usual mushy or garden. Good pud choices. Great service throughout and very fair prices.

An excellent experience. Very friendly staff and customers, I was made to feel welcome from the start. Very nice accommodation and pub. Wonderful, and I would recommend it any time. My only regret is that I could not stay longer. Thanks to all.

Stopped here for a drink and toilet on the way to Whitby. Wife went to the bar and was told what you doing in here this is a private function. We then realised this was on a small chalkboard outside. We asked to use the toilet she said no and shut the front door in the wife's face. Totally disgusting behaviour by the staff and we'll deserving of your one star. Please no visit here so rude and who ever you are thanks for nothing l. You need some customer service training clearly. Who rents a pub out to everyone on the 21st century? Get a function room.

Came for food at late notice was able to get a cosy table for 4 adults and 3 dogs!! Food was amazing , we had ploughman’s to share and asked for a bowl of scampi to come with it (scampi should be a main meal) they were happy to accommodate our odd request and adjusted the price for us . All the staff were lovely , accommodating and enjoyed having a laugh with us when my father in law was a little drunk and seeing buildings that were actually chimneys out the door 😂. Thanks very much for having us we will be back next year xx

Such a shame that we felt so unwelcome. We arrived 2.45, Friday 26th Aug. 4 ladies staying at our friends holiday let 5 mins down the road, The big back door was open so I asked what was clearly the chef wether we could have lunch, he said yes, as long as we ordered straight away as he finished at 3pm......ok, no problem we thought, we'll order quickly. So we go inside & see the 2 young girls to ask for a table in the beer garden area, I told them the chef had told us to order quickly. The manager/owner lady came over, 3 of our party had gone outside to rear garden but this manager /owner was overheard by our one other saying to the 2 young staff 'who's told them they could eat at this time' they replied that I'd spoken to the chef & she was clearly very unhappy! They serve advertised until 3pm. The girls who served us clearly had no training, were polite but incredibly naive in service, the ciabatta sandwiches & salad were really nice (thankyou chef) but really? Visitors should be felt welcome as much as locals & you definitely made us feel unwelcome. What a shame we won't be able to recommend your business to the guests at the hoilday home, but shall have to reccomnded to avoid.

A nicely sited pub high on a hill, with good views, garden has noisy pump for bouncy castle - handy for young kids but noisy. We waited for 40 - 50 mins, with no word of food, I asked after 40 mins, and food was delivered 10 mins later. Given we had order pizzas salad and a dish of pork with boiled potatoes and they were not hugely busy, I believe food prep time of 50 mins - is excessive, and a little frustrating as I had read reviews about this on trip advisor to my party, Anyway - my salad niciose was quite good - apart from the tuna - which had an enormous amount of salt. But that was fine. My dads pork was really dry and grey. The pizzas were OK, I suspected they were not made on the premises, but I could not be sure!
