Difficult location at the top of very steep hill. Over half a mile up a 20% + incline. Reliant on taxi or the twice a day shuttle. Bedroom was average, but the bathroom was very poor. Toilet and bath was stained, broken and miss matched tiles. Gap under window that was stuffed with toilet paper. Cheap telescopic pole and shower curtain that fell down when touched. Shower head was broken and sprayed water over the curtain and onto the floor. (Shower head replaced while we were there). On the plus side the food was very good and reasonably priced (but a Pizza took 55 minutes). Staff were very nice, especially Eleanor, who spoke excellent English. On our last day one of the underwater lights in the pool floated to the surface and I passed it to a manager. It had exposed wires on the back of the lamp but he didn’t seem concerned. Breakfast buffet was average too. Cooked food was cold and exposed, and diners were often waiting for bowls and plates. Rest of the hotel was ok but showing signs of wear in all areas. View from the hotel amazing.

I will start with the positives. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Room service was daily with fresh towels etc. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and very helpful. The hotels position offers the most spectacular views over the bay. Hotel rating according to our travel company was 3*plus. About right I would say and could easily achieve 4* with a few tweaks. Now the negatives, don't be fooled by the location. The hotel is not near the town and is at the top of a very steep hill. We walked into town once and it took an hour. Wouldn't even contemplate the walk back. The courtesy bus only runs once a day at 11 am into town and returns at 4pm. It costs approx 15 euros each way in a cab adding to your holiday cost as there are no bars or restaurants nearby. Simple improvements could be made in the rooms such as some drawers for storage, bedside tables that are of some use, a shower screen [instead of the curtain] and a shower head at a usable height [ not at waist level]. Overall a great hotel for longing around in the sunshine although the hotel was quiet when we visited. I think there are 40 rooms. I only counted 18 sun loungers around the pool so it could be interesting in peak season.

Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff, hillside location so you will need transport unless you like walking. Our room was on 2nd floor looking out on the bay. Free transfer bus to Skiathos town operates twice daily. Really enjoyed our stay 😎

The location up a steep hill outside of Skiathos town gives splendid views but, as other reviewers have pointed out, makes it difficult to get anywhere unless you have your own transport. The buffet breakfast was very good and the views from the breakfast terrace excellent. The rooms are of a good standard but nothing special. Most of the staff were helpful and friendly.

We recently stayed here for 5 nights. It is around 15 minutes from the town but they put on a bus which will take you to the centre of town and bring you back free of charge. The times are 11am pick up, 4pm return and 7pm pick up, 11pm return. Make sure you go to reception and book your spot each day. Sometimes they had to do 2 trips to get us all into town but as long as they know, they are happy to sort. Also a taxi back from the town to the hotel is 15 euros. Pool is lovely and the views are just amazing. They also offer a towel service for the pool. Just ask reception. You can also hire quads by speaking to reception. Lots of other excursions too. Nico on the bar was just lovely. He worked everyday we were there. From morning till night. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely man. The other staff were nice too. Room was ok. It had everything you need. The bathrooms are a little dated with a few holes here and there but the shower was hot and the toilet flushed. What more do you need. Breakfast was abit hit and miss. Coffee/hot water machine not working on the very first morning and the eggs looked liked they’d been cooked for 10 seconds. Raw and slimy on the top. Not for me. But there was lots of fruit cereal and cheese etc… They do snacks in the day so around 11.30 I’d have a cheese and ham toastie which salad and chips which in my opinion was way better than the breakfast. The main thing I found odd was that the hotel stopped serving food and drinks at 11pm. Your on holiday! Also they are restricting there business. If the bus brings you back at 11pm lots of people could carry on drinking/ having a good time and importantly for them, spend more money. Nico the barman did advise the hotel is under new management and he has expressed to them it needs to stay open later which he said they would do in the next season. Overall I would stay again as the staff pool food and views were lovely. Just bare in mind it’s a bus or taxi into town so you want everything on your door step. This isn’t for you.

My wife and I stayed here for a fee night's in July. The staff are very friendly. The rooms are clean. The food was good. I highly recommended Oniro, especially for couples. Keep in mind that it is a bit of a walk up a hill, however they do have an occasional complimentary mini bus.

My wife and I got married at the Kivo hotel (that’s what this hotel was called before it changed hands) and we love it. This is our fourth time at the hotel and I’m afraid to say it’s taken a bit of a downturn. From a physical perspective it’s the same it’s always been - stunning location with amazing views. When I booked this hotel I made a mistake with my email address and missed a letter out, so I never had any email correspondence from them - my fault. However I recognised this very early and sent them multiple emails asking if I could change it; I also called. They never got back to me. The reception area used to be all open and welcoming but they’ve built a little alcove that they sit in which really makes a barrier that never existed before and makes it feel very impersonal. Breakfast was very poor - we only went once because we couldn’t believe how bad it was! Tired pastries, some fruit and some eggs; very different to how it used to be (eggs etc cooked to order by chef, fresh pastries, constantly bringing new stuff out). We stayed in the pool suite which was great - this is the room we had for our wedding. However they’ve split it in half and put two single beds in the room which used to be a lounge, presumably to maximise profitability. However this really detracts from the experience and just speaks to the company’s focus on profit rather than comfort. They’ve also removed the artwork that used to be in there and it feels very bare. There used to be a nice swinging chair hanging from the ceiling in there and they’ve just removed it, leaving the hook up in the ceiling. The shower was dripping constantly, making a very annoying noise on the metal drain below. I told them about this and they did nothing. At €270/night I thought this was fairly poor. The pool area has also had downgrades. There used to be a fridge out there and a speaker (we brought our own but this was a great touch before) as well as a phone to contact the hotel team. On the first day we ordered some drinks to our pool area and they brought them down. The next day we tried again and they said they don’t do room service; they passed me to three different people who didn’t know. It’s a small issue I know, but I feel that room service in a hotel that is aiming and claiming to offer luxury is a must. If they’d done it the first day is there a reason they couldn’t do it the next? Then on the last day they left a bitter taste in my mouth. As we were checking out, the lady on the reception asked if we’d paid everything for the reservation. I explained that we had and I showed her the correspondence I had; she then called somebody to check. It felt as though they were insinuating we were trying to get away with not paying, which didn’t feel very nice. I would expect that this would be done at the start, rather than at the end of the holiday. Hopefully Oniro will get a handle on it and improve things, but I won’t hold my breath!
