Greeted off the coach by a male serving at reception and after "booking in", we were led downstairs to the restaurant where the hotel very graciously laid on a bite to eat for us even though we didn't arrive till approximately 01:45am local time! Ok, let's get the bad points out the way. 1. Broken patio chair (as displayed in photo caught us out by "grabbing" us both on occasion - sorted by merely placing a towel over, collapsed eventually, 2. No internal lock on entry door. Alison didn't initially feel secure especially at night but we overcame this. There was however a security bolt on the bathroom door and an internal lock on said door (obviously, we chose not to sleep in the bathroom ). This was further demonstrated as on the Thursday, Sunday and Monday morning, a cleaner entered the room whilst we were still in bed! (Not they're fault, they only doing their job ) #3. No door card (do not disturb etc) which could have helped the above problem, 4. There was building work going on next door, (a further Castello hotel) and the staff start work early which can be easily heard while you lie-in 5. TAKE BUG SPRAY! We got eaten alive out here! Now for the good...Rooms are very clean, ours had a balcony, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, hair dryer, air con (which worked brilliantly) and the bed!! Comfy, understatement! We slept really well! The hotel is very centrally located between bars, shore, supermarket and made our stay easy! This hotel is magnificently kept, really clean&staff are extremely helpful. Pool really clean, and there's 2! The food is generally good, although we only got up for breakfast twice (lie-in part of holiday!) We also enjoyed Greek night. Ervis is brilliant at his job&seems to be on hand most of the day to get you anything you need (Give him pay rise!). Also generally most of the staff are helpful

Castello Village Resort Sissi Crete The pictures used on the various websites to sell this holiday, either do not exist or are from the Boutique Hotel across the road? None of the photos are up to date, the pool pictures used on the websites are at least 6 years old. The pool was redone in 2018! The picture of the courtyard dining area show it as fairly clean, when in fact it is filthy, there are masses of bird droppings and pine needles and seed pods on the tables and chairs, there has been no effort to clean. Main female Receptionist was very hostile towards the guests and openly stated that she HATES the English! There is no equipment for hire, there is no Concierge service, the luggage room provided was actually a hole in the ground, ( I have photos). There is no mention anywhere on the website that this hotel is Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues? Steps and ramps are everywhere, if you are in the ONLY bar that was open and need the toilets, then you have to negotiate past the pool and the the sun beds, down 2 flights of stairs and then the reverse to get back to your drink! There is no mention of the ramps, one near the dining room is about a 45 degree angle and the other from the dining room to the outside pool is so steep, yet neither of them are mentioned anywhere. Main (they call it a restaurant) but it is actually a dining area. Food is left out in the open and swarming with flies and bluebottles, they are on all the cold meats and cheeses etc, when I reported this fact to the lady in charge, she merely went to the area and shooed the flies away, there was no attempt to stop them. Needless to say we didn’t eat any of that stuff. The hot food in the evening was not good for what is supposed to be a 4 star restaurant. One night was so dire I only had a chip butty. So we had to eat out most nights, we spent most of our holiday money on food at local bars and tavernas. Lots of people were arriving at the restaurant, looking what was on offer and leaving. The hotel bar is running a con on the beer, the menu only has draught beer in two sizes small and large but they use 3 different sizes of glass? The cleaner never did anything for the first 5 days except change the towels, we spoke to the manager of housekeeping and the room was cleaned next day and once more during our two week stay. Our room was sold to us a “Luxury Room”with garden view, it had neither of these. It certainly wasn’t a luxury room, never has been? We put up with it because the other rooms were a lot worse than ours, they had no air conditioning and no natural light, some were plagued with cockroaches that the management had no idea how to deal with, they sprayed the room with air fresheners and said that will keep them out! One English couple we befriended had to change room twice in one week the next room was no better than the other, with no light and no air conditioning in one and then no air conditioning in the next, they brought a fan, but it didn’t work

Nice looking reasort it's like a little village in itself with alleyways and stairs to different rooms. They do have deluxe rooms with sea views. We had room 406, a spacious room excellent shower. Free air-conditioning and safe. Tea making facilities and fridge .Balcony did not have a good view, just a pathway, trees in front, but it was cool and adequate. Some rooms had no but space in front of the bedroom door, no privacy, and next to the walkway.. not good at all. Breakfast is good but chaotic. You need to wait so long for the toaster. it was not worth the effort due to cues for one small toaster. Cues also for hot drinks. The bar drinks very expensive, so empty most of the time. This hotel is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, lots of steps, and steep slopes. To leave luggage in the room on the day of departure, you have to struggle with a case down steep steps completely ridiculous Hotel shows sea views. This is rocks, no sand, or access to sea. The main thing that spoilt this holiday was the shortage of sunbeds! People being allowed to reserve sunbeds for hours with towels. I asked management twice to be able to use sunbed, which was empty with towel on for over four hours on one of these occasions a couple arrived back six hours later, I was verbally abused! As they thought it acceptable that 6 hours later.the sunbed should still be free. This spoilt my holiday.

We have just had a wonderful stay at this lovely complex, the staff were so friendly and worked very hard. The pool area was lovely. It is situated in a ideal location only a few minutes walk to the lovely village of Sisi. We will definitely return in the near future.

I went with my teenage daughters for a week in October and it was a very relaxing, quiet week away. The staff are very friendly and they pull out extra stops to make your stay enjoyable. There is a lot of choice in the restaurant, with pool bars open throughout the day. Situated nicely on the coast there are great views of the sea, but also a few minutes walk from the town with plenty of shops and restaurants. If you go towards the end of October though, the season is ending and there may not be as much choice as peak times. All the locals are very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

Arrived around 2AM really tired and the bloke on the desk sorted us out with some food and drink before we went to our room which was nice. Room was alright, nice and clean, decent bed and aircon that worked. The wife managed to block the toilet and they sorted it out straight away. We went half board, breakfast and evening meals were both really good with plenty of choice. The resturant staff were excellent. Had a few beers in the hotel bar which was also pretty good. However spent most of our drinking time in the Jolly Roger pub next door which I'd recommend. Would definately stay there again.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at Castello Village Resort. We had a lovely room overlooking the restaurant and the swimming pool and towards the sea with a good sized balcony. These are the best beds we have slept on abroad for a very long time, extremely comfortable and very welcome as I have osteoarthritis. The room was light and airy with an aditional opening window and an excellent walk in shower. All staff were very welcoming and friendly and deserve the credit for all the hard work they do. Viola, our maid was so hard working and made us feel very welcome - she is a credit. Sissi is lovely but a better bus service would be helpful as we like to explore on local transport. There are lots of shops and a corner bakery that serves very good latte's. Overalll, a lovely relaxing holiday with excellent weather.

We enjoyed our visit. Our first room was unsuitable for our needs so we spoke to the staff and they were very helpful. We were then put in a new room that the bathroom was on the same level. The staff were very helpful we had no issues at all after our move. The breakfast was the best we have had in this level of hotel. Unfortunately we would not return due to all the steps and steep hill to lower pool. We would not be able to know the room available. I would go to the sister hotel across the road. Sissiis a lovely village and the restaurants have very good food.

We had visited this hotel in May and had a fabulous time so really wanted to go back ! . And what a welcome we received from these lovely people. Michalis, Tziko, Erlind, Agatha ,and Evi in the restaurant 😀 they had remembered us it was really fantastic. Loads of hugs all round. Dimitris who is the manager of all 3 hotels he is also a very caring, kind lovely man who goes the extra mile to please his guests. We were so spoilt with a fabulous upgrade to the suites, which were out of this world , beautiful!! with views to die for! The new part to the restaurant was lovely, good food with loads of verity for meat eaters and vegetarians . Everything is kept so clean with beds changed every third day and towels every day. Christina, Dusty and Yannis , plus the other ladies on reception sorry I can't remember you're names also delightful plus the other manager incharge of food and drinks.
