Château de Siran - Hôtel & Spa

A beautiful Chateau guest house in this quiet village. The rooms were beautifully decorated and luxuriously comfortable. Dinner was exquisite - a number of courses all based on one main ingredient. Inspired! The chef is the owner's son and could easily be working at an upmarket restaurant in a less off the beaten track location. Small pool and very nice spa area too. Excellent service throughout. So why am I not giving this wonderful place 5*? Well simply because although the room rates are good, you are paying quite a lot for extras in comparison, including to use the spa.

We stayed here with our daughter and partner for 3 nights visiting family in the area. The place itself is lovely, the furniture and decor are charming and very individual. The staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. Our bed was very comfortable and our room (7 I think) was clean with nice decor. AC worked perfectly but it was nice to be able to open the window and get fresh air. The only downside was the bathroom was tiny and there was nowhere to dry more than one towel. When you used the shower it got water everywhere and the bath was too small. Would have expected a few more toiletries in bathroom, when you travel with only hand luggage you need them. Our daughter had smaller room with a shower and a terrace and steps down to the pool. The pool area could do with a bit of painting and generally tidying up, but I love the cool shady area under cover and it's very comfortable. I think we have to remember that everyone is coming out of covid and these things all take time and money. The spa area was very enjoyable even if one of the rooms was out of order. But the food was our favourite! Dining there in the evenings, having a drink before dinner was just fabulous. 50 euro a head for 5 courses, and the food was superb as was the wine. We had a few menu du jours locally for 30/25 euro a head which to be honest were very average and I didn't really enjoy. There isnt much competition I suppose. Spent between 15 and 25 euros a head in the bar round the corner for one course lunch, so to be honest 50 euros for a fabulous meal represented excellent value. Breakfast at the chateau was also really good. We will definitely be returning, other guests in the hotel were friendly and we enjoyed our stay very much.

We liked our stay very much, the place is special and carries charm and history, and the staff is wonderfully kind. Rooms OK. Restaurant was great, the chef’s menu was original, tasty, local. And the wine ! Same for breakfast - very generous and .. good for late sleepers.
