Our 2nd stay at Bear Mountain Lodge and just as wonderful as our first! First stay was in Wren's Nest separate casita from the lodge. It is nice and private, cozy with a large bathroom, just right with 2 beds. On our second visit we stayed in the Leopold room upstairs in the lodge. Outstanding views from large windows and a private balcony that had 2 chairs and a small table. The views are incredible to see the stars at night and the sunrise each morning. The room was larger than we expected from the photo's and the bathroom was huge. What's even more special about BML is the people, all staff are very friendly and helpful. The artwork inside the lodge is plentiful, lots of comfy area's to sit and 2 large fireplaces. The dining area for inside and outside is very welcoming and comfortable. The food is delicious and on the healthy side too. Horses, cows, chickens are there to visit within a short stroll down to the barn and plenty of trails to hike with more beautiful views. The cherry on top of this is the resident cat Mui Mui whom we fell in love with! Can't say enough good things about Bear Mountain Lodge!

We have stayed here many times, always loved it, but this 2 night stay was particularly enjoyable. Breakfasts are always exceptional but we were particularly lucky this time because they had a special Valentine's Day dinner menu. All elements--soup, salad, entree and especially the brownies--were excellent. The out of town location is great because you can wander off in several different directions for a hike on National Forest land. I can't wait to go back!

The lodge is a special treat for us when we stay in Silver City. I call it rustic elegance with a hard lean toward the elegance side! The rooms are large, clean and quiet. We have always stayed in the main lodge because we enjoy sitting downstairs by the fireplace, reading and hoping the lodge cat decides to bestow his presence on us. Staff is friendly and helpful and the food can't be beat. You can walk the trails or take the short (5-10 minute) drive back to downtown Silver City to hit the shops and galleries. I highly recommend the Bear Mountain Lodge!

Another great stay at the warm and friendly Bear Mountain Lodge. Don't miss the outstanding breakfast with a friendly staff. Bacon wrapped dates are the best. Comfortable room in a great location at the base of Bear Mountain and still convenient to town.

We hadn’t been to Silver City to stay at Bear Mountain Lodge for several years but nothing had changed. Same great place to stay, same great people, good food and a lovely environment. One small change is that there are more bones in the One Million Bones project which commemorates genocide victims worldwide. It is a moving experience to go through the area on the Old Windmill Trail on the Lodge property. That and more great art as Linda and her crew continue to make this a special place to visit and unwind.

Delightful lodging close to Silver downtown yet private with its acreage. Tasty breakfasts, nice option of dinner in the Lodge (good food!), fun trails on-property, wonderful staff. Really comfy beds, nice amenities. Perfect place to re-charge in nature.

Friendly staff! Appreciated the coffee delivery at 7am; breakfast starts at 8. We reported a plumbing problem one morning, and they fixed it before we finished the very tasty breakfast. Our room was in a fourplex near the main building. It has a beautiful common area that invites conversation with other travelers. The main building’s common areas are less attractive, with some outstanding art spoiled by proximity to just the awfullest kitsch. All of it for sale, at prices so high the owners should be embarrassed. Ask about the Mongolian gur, interesting story.

Buyer Beware!! Horrible customer service!!! Selfish, Smug, Dismissive, Inconsiderate, Unaccommodating, Greedy I contacted Bear Mountain Lodge to cancel our reservations immediately after I suffered a near fatal car accident on Labor Day at least a week prior to our arrival. I was told by someone over the phone that I would be given a refund due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the abrupt cancellation. I never received the $539 refund on my credit card. I called to ask for my money back and was told they had a strict policy on cancellations and instead of giving me my money back they tried to offer a Gift Certificate or donation to a Charity!!! Unbelievable and unacceptable customer service!!! If this is how New Mexico treats tourists, patrons and clients in the hotel industry, I would highly suggest making alternative reservations!! I have traveled all over the world and have never experienced the dismissive, smug, and arrogant attitude from a hotel owner surrounding a reimbursement of funds. This hotel/lodge basically stole our hard earned money and did nothing to earn it. We are super upset and will never book a reservation at this hotel. Buyer beware!!!
