Hotel Chesa Surlej
4.2/510 Reviews

Staff were very helpful and warm. Hotel Manager came out to welcome us upon our arrival and to wish us well when we checked out. Nicest hotel staff we have encountered in a very long time. Hotel facility was excellent and the views from our terrace was spectacular. Room was perfect and the walk-in closet was a nice touch. Bathroom amenities was plentiful and A Grade. Service was great all around. Staff were very attentive and warm throughout the day. Breakfast and dinner are served on the 5th (top floor) and everyone was just amazing every time including during our occasional room service requests. Hotel is located 15 minutes away from St. Moritz on a very scenic drive. It is a nice break from the throngs of noisy tourist that populate the city. Location is wonderful. There is a nice lake very close to the hotel. You can actually see this from the terrace of your room. It is a good 10 minute downhill walk to the lake and the hiking trails close by. Bus service to the hotel (15 minutes trip) comes at regular intervals and it goes through the narrow streets of St. Moritz all the way to the train station. Bus stop at the train station is about 200’ and the stop at the hotel is right at the doorstep. We didn’t know that the hotel offered free pick-up and departure shuttles to and from the train station so we took the bus on our arrival. Getting to the hotel from the train station was a breeze with a couple of huge luggages as both stops were basically at the doorsteps. Cable cars to Corvatsch is right across the hotel. The hotel bakery offered a quiet space to enjoy the afternoon with very delicious offerings.
Giardino Mountain
4.6/541 Reviews
My recent stay at Hotel Giardino Mountain was extremely disappointing. The hotel provided the wrong spa closing times, which meant we missed out on using the spa on our first day. Had we been given the correct information, we could have adjusted our arrival time. The breakfast was very poor, with weird, crusty eggs and generally low quality. The room was uncomfortably hot and very small, with no air-conditioning. When we asked for assistance, we were simply told to open the windows, which had no fly screens and let in numerous bugs. The view from the window was also marred by a demolished building. The Wi-Fi was unreliable and kept dropping out, making it impossible to work on Zoom. The manager was incredibly rude and aggressive. He refused to help with our bags, so we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs ourselves. When we voiced our concerns about the room, he threatened to call the police and evict us. The general manager, Cristofaro Bruna, was particularly unhelpful and hostile, even going so far as to bully my girlfriend to the point of tears. Additionally, the sauna, one of the main reasons we booked the hotel, was only open for three hours a day, making it practically unusable for us. There was no one to assist us during check-in, further adding to the frustration. Overall, our experience at Hotel Giardino Mountain was terrible. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.
