La Belle Tortue

We have experienced a delightful seven days at La Belle Tortue. It is a secluded small lodge where nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The beach is beautiful and only several meters from your room and the rooms and ablutions are spacious and well appointed. The food is superlative, every meal was an occasion, the style so French one half expected to see the Eiffel Tower when looking up from one's plate. The chef's wine choices were spot on each time and the maitre d was a vivacious and attentive young woman. The pastry chef/manager was in a league of her own and constantly delivered world class fare to the tables. She is immensely talented for one so young. The greatest surprise of all was the standard of fly fishing, right in the bay in front of the hotel and on the Western side of the harbour. Here shoals of bonefish ate almost every fly presented to them, moray eels persued bait balls of fish in calf deep water, I caught a few by mistake, and every now and then someting big would ***** line and break the leader. Wow, I fished until my arms ached and my rod broke. I am sure more experienced fishermen would find more here to keep them busy. In all this is a real gem and well worth an extended stay.

Nice place with excellent restaurant, Benjamin and Staff perfects, far away from kids and noises of other Bigger and more known Resort. If you like to relax and to lay down under the sun - best beach is at the opposite end after Spa of Resort - nobody there!

Have spent a weekend on Silhouette Island, which I consider the most beautiful island of all Seychelles. We did stay at La Belle Tortue and it has been a beautiful experience. It's a little charming hotel equipped with all you may need. Spacious and great rooms, very clean. The setting is what we were looking for; elegant, charming, quiet. Restaurant: finally a great restaurant in Seychelles! Breakfast, lunch and dinners are spectaculars...! Benjamin is a fantastic Chef!! The staff is super friendly and always helping with tips and suggestions. I would recommend it to everyone that wants to have beautiful holiday

Great experience with island and hotel. Pure nature and silent without any people influence. Great gastronomy, willing staff. Very friendly and small hotel with nice rooms situated directly on the beach. Only not possitive - a lot of mosquitos.

Silhouette is a beautiful granite island which is either explored on foot or by boat. La Belle Tortue is one of two accommodations on the island. If you prefer an intimate, quieter experience shared with no more than a small number of like minded individuals, then La Belle Tortue is the perfect choice. We spent five wonderful nights in the varangue room which was extremely comfortable and its spacious veranda was ideal for relaxing, reading and listening to the sounds of bird song and the ocean. What made this lodge so special was the exceptional hospitality of general manager and chef, Benjamin and his staff. Benjamin's four course, evening menu was an absolute delight, each dish demonstrating his culinary expertise. The beach immediately in front of the lodge is perfect for a swim at high tide; reef shoes are needed for exploration at a lower tide. There are many activities to choose from; we enjoyed a romantic sunset cruise with boat crew, Alain and Ryan. We also arranged to be taken to and collected from Anse Grande Barbe, on the other side of the island, where there is the perfect 'Robinson Crusoe' beach, which we enjoyed all to ourselves. Behind the beach, we explored the ruins of an earlier settlement where a handful of people still live. Alternatively, the beach can be reached by a long hike and a guide can be provided. Snorkelling trips can also be arranged and diving is accommodated at the Hilton hotel further along Anse La Passe. We especially enjoyed walking along this stretch of beach at low tide to Baie Cipailles, a stunning part of the coastline with granite boulders and shallow pools. We also enjoyed the easier hikes to other beaches such as Anse Cimetiere and Anse Lascars. La Belle Tortue provided the ideal opportunity to do as little or as much as we liked on a relatively untouched island just a 45 minute boat transfer from Mahe. The lodge is composed of just a few rooms allowing for service to be tailored and personal without being oppressive. The place is extraordinary and the chef treats you with the most exquisite island food you can dream of. The beach is secluded in its own creek and shallow enough for tiny guests but be sure to bring some reef shoes for the corals. Go fishing with Alain and Ryan and get to eat your day's catch as a tartare, curry or sushi. Wander to the other side if the island in grande Barbe and greet the giant tortoises whilst enjoying a tropical beach entirely by yourself, the hotel will arrange to either provide a guide, pick you up or even drop off and pick up later.
