We just stayed at La Posada del Angel in Ojén, a small mountain village near Marbella. We were three adults and one child sharing two rooms from Monday 7 July to Friday 11 July. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. Since parking is a little bit away from the hotel, one of the staff came to pick us up with a golf cart, driving us and our luggage through the narrow village streets up to the hotel. The hotel itself is beautifully authentic in Spanish style. The breakfast area is like an indoor courtyard open to the sky, with a lovely lemon tree growing in the middle. Each morning, breakfast was an experience in itself. We were served homemade yoghurt with bowls of fresh fruit and granola as we wished. Then came a selection of bread, homemade jams, different cold cuts and meats, cheeses, and freshly squeezed juice. Everything was brought to our table, which made it such a relaxing start to the day compared to a buffet. We could also choose any type of eggs we wanted – boiled, fried, or scrambled. The staff were incredibly friendly and service-minded. One of the first things they asked was if anyone had allergies. We asked for gluten-free options, and they made sure we were well taken care of throughout our stay. Usually, only breakfast is served at the hotel, but one evening we were invited to join for dinner as one of the staff member’s husbands is a chef. We enjoyed a delicious six-course meal in a wonderful atmosphere – truly one of the highlights of our stay. There was no minibar or fridge in the rooms, but instead they had a small room with drinks and snacks (wine, soda, crisps, nuts), where guests simply wrote down what they took. There was also a large shared kitchen with a fridge where we could store our own food and drinks. We have travelled quite a lot, but this was the most authentic and charming hotel we have ever stayed at. It was the first time we have hugged the staff when leaving. However, we feel really sad that we forgot to leave a tip for the lady who cleaned our rooms, and we truly hope there is a way to fix this by transferring some money to her. If you prefer something ultra-modern with twelve floors and lifts, this is not the place for you. But for everyone else who wants a unique and unforgettable experience – you must stay here. We were in Marbella last year as well but didn’t know about this hotel then. We will definitely come back, and when we do, there is no doubt we will stay here again. Thank you so much for making our stay so special!
