The Elephant

Siem Reap Wat Bo Area Siem Reap|0.87km from CUS
Stayed 7 nights in a one bedroom apartment in this well run hotel. Staff is outstanding and very well trained. Location is excellent being within walking distance of the old Market and Pub Street yet realitively quiet. We used the hotel's airport pickup for a cost of $33 each way. Having been to Siem Reap multiple times we used the same tuk tuk driver for the last 9 years but the hotel has quiet a few capable drivers available at all times. We had one evening meal and several breakfasts at the hotel. Food and especially the service was very good. I would prefer more western or ala carte choices but what they have is adequate. Two blocks away is the Muffin Man bakery and restaurant and they offer excellent breakfast choices. A few blocks towards the old Market is the Khmer Grill which has many choices at very affordable prices. Also just past the Khmer Grill down the alley is Wild which is a highly rated restaurant featuring Spring Rolls both fried and not fried. I would highly recommend. Down and across the street from the Muffin Man is a Khmer soup restaurant frequented by lots of tuk tuk drivers. We were the only westerners there but the owner speaks basic English and it was excellent. He charged us $1 for a bowl of soup with lots of meat in it. This hotel offered the best wifi of any hotel I have ever stayed in Siem Reap. It also has more than adequate air conditioning. We plan to return to Siem Reap for a more extended stay and The Elephant will be our first choice.

Ladear Privilege Rooms

This image effectively captures the essence of not only the hotel but also the entire city and country. It exudes an overall dilapidated and below-average quality. Our stay at this hotel lasted for a month, costing around 650 euros, and although our sleep was satisfactory, there were numerous shortcomings. Despite actively searching for other hotels within the same price range, none of them were satisfactory. However, due to the comfortable sleep we experienced, we decided to stay. If we had come across a more respectable option, we would have immediately left. The advantages include a peaceful and quiet atmosphere at night, as well as reasonably comfortable beds. Additionally, the staff demonstrated friendliness and helpfulness.
Golden Vishnu Villa

Bopha Wat Bo Residence

The hotel is located not too far from Angkor Wat and pub street. The rooms were nice and big, the pool was great 👍. Breakfast wasn't bad. They were also really nice to allow me to keep a durian a bought in my room and even cut and serve it to me when I was ready to it, along with keeping mangosteens in my room too.
La Residence WatBo Hotel

Our room are large and very comfortable if slightly worn. We liked the large wet room that was separate to the bath/WC. Breakfast wasn't very inspiring and we didn't eat there in the evenings ( why would you when Siem Reap town center is only a 5 minute tuk-tuk ride away?) There's a small rather polluted river that runs quite close to the hotel and there were times when we could smell it when using the pool. Not great but it wasn't continuous. Siem Reap town center can be a little rowdy at night so if, like us, you're not night owls and you enjoy a good nights rest staying here might well be a good option for you. On arrival we found that guests were being diverted to a nearby sister hotel. I can't recall the explanation given but it soon became clear that bookings were down due to initial COVID concerns and the plan was to save money by squeezing everyone into one hotel and closing the other. We were sympathetic to this but once we saw the packed poolside at the replacement hotel we and another couple stuck to our guns and said that we wanted to return to La Residence which we'd pre-booked. It would be stretching it somewhat to say that the hotel's response to this request was enthusiastic. Nevertheless our return was agreed with good grace. By the end of our short stay my wife and I were literally the only 2 guests in the entire hotel which I think was probably closed behind us as we left.

Three-night stay and had a comfortable time. After the intense historical site visits in scorching weather, the pool time was super nice. All the staff speak good English to support the guests and are friendly. A simple breakfast with fresh fruits was ok to start a day. The hotel didn’t recognise my booking from Trip.com when I arrived, but they simultaneously sorted out arranging the room. Accessible location with Tuktuk to the pub street area and the bus boarding point to Phnom Penh. There were lots of Mosquitoes in the room. Make sure to spray the corner space before bedtime. Clean bedsheets and a roomy room. It was good in general. The hotel's name, Residence 1960, wasn't registered on the Grab app. You need to use the hotel name on the card if you use the Grab app.
