Anniversary meal for myself and the wife. What a treat! The service, staff, wine and food was absolutely fantastic. Ok, the asparagus starter was delicious but a tad small but the flavour was amazing. I had the chicken and rabbit terrine which was superb. Main’s we had the pork and the lamb. Both were sublime. The atmosphere at this restaurant is worth the cost. It’s truly a wonderful experience and we will be back. First class.

Gifted a night away from the kids, we visited Rhubarb for dinner and an overnight stay. It was wonderful. A labour of love for the couple behind the project, this was evident in every aspect of our visit. The beautifully decorated rooms perfectly complemented the historic building, bettered only by the food. A hearty cooked breakfast was as good as it gets and the tasting menu was exceptional at £45 a head. All washed down with a very generous wine flight (£30), the meal was exceptional value for money. I can’t rate Rhubarb highly enough. Lovely rooms, exquisite food and wonderful service, we will be back.

Must be best place to stay in Shrewsbury ...in fact a good reason to come to Shrewsbury! Welcoming, friendly, efficient and professional service. We particularly enjoyed the cosy bar area with the log burning fire, good wine & cocktail list too. Only experienced the breakfast in the gorgeous atmospheric restaurant in the Drapers Hall wood panelled room. It was excellent so I can only imagine the dinner would be good too.... a reason to return! Stayed in the Walnut room with 4 poster bed. Lovely if a little dark. All quality linens, towels etc. I think all the hotel rooms are in the building connecting to the back of Drapers Hall, but you still can appreciate walking up the amazing wooden staircase. Great location to walk around the town. A couple excellent restaurants too (besides Rhubarb) so even more reasons to return, don't consider staying anywhere else!

Dropped in here by chance as it looked quaint and the Sunday lunch menu enticing. The lunch was amongst the best we have eaten in a while. Superb 3 course meal with starter, main and dessert..all absolutely perfect. Charming, attentive staff Very quaint 17th century dining room…quiet, clean and cool. 100% recommended!

What an amazing place and such lovely staff. Our stay was a treat for our 48th wedding anniversary - and what a treat! The building is ancient and beautiful. The stairs are made safe with plenty to hang on to but still in keeping with the house. Loved our bedroom and super comfy bed.I would have liked some information about the hotel in the room - we were told that information was coming that day. The bathroom is modern with a large bath and shower that works easily and well. Dressing gowns provided should you need them and lovely, fluffy towels. Plenty of choice at breakfast and that set us up for the day. Thank you.

Half Timbered splendour ! This was a great stay. It is certainly higher end price wise, but we were keen on a bit of an indulgence stay for one. It is sort of living in history for a while, with a fully superb onsite restaurant. For that "why not" type of stay, Drapers is well worth considering. The room we had, Orange, was modern in fittings, but still having some of the original 15th/16th century building features. The bathroom was as good as any modern 5 star hotel. Location is terrific if you arrive by train and want to walk historic Shrewsbury, like we did. I would think though that bringing a car might offer some challenges around parking.
