My husband and I have just returned from an 11 night stay at the Spinney. Everything about the experience was outstanding considering this is a guest house. We stayed in the largest room available which was well appointed, it had a large very comfortable bed and a single bed which was useful for us for putting additional items on. It was quiet. We had views over the rolling hills, an efficient shower with hot water available anytime of the day, plenty of wardrobe space and a table and chairs. There was a TV in the room. Towels were changed on request. The standard of cleanliness was high. The breakfast was superb with a large variety of choices including a full English breakfast. The standard was very high and the filter coffee was great. Lots of fresh fruit including strawberries, raspberries and blueberries were available every day. We were made to feel very welcome by Mick and Penny, the owners, our every need was catered for. On arrival Mick transferred our cases up to our room before we had time to blink and the biscuits provided daily made a great addition to our lunch of a banana and a packet of crisps. Fresh milk is provided daily in the “guest fridge” which is also available for storing cold drinks which was an advantage for us. The location on the A39 for us was spot on as we travelled within a 30 mile radius to visit places of interest and go walking, including RHS Rosemoor and Dunster Castle. Arlington Court (NT) is close by. We also visited Lynmouth, Watersmeet, Croyde, Staunton sands, Baggy point, Hartland Abbey and Porlock Weir. We eat at nearby pubs and particularly liked the New Inn at Goodleigh. We would highly recommend the Spinney guest house as the best value for money we have ever experienced. Thank you, Penny and Mick, for making our stay so enjoyable. It was a pleasure to meet you both.
