I had planned on visiting different places in Ikaho Onsen, but ended up venturing not far from Chigira Jinsentei Ryokan because I kept wanting to head back. The convenient location of the hotel and the views from all angles were incredible. It is literally right in the middle of the stone stairs. All the shops are around you, and you can see snow covered mountains far away. The hot spring is probably the best in all of Ikaho comparing volume of free flowing hot spring to the number of guest rooms. There is one indoor bath (alternate between male/female everyday), one outdoor bath, and 4 free private baths all equipped with sink/AC/Heating units, hair dryer and two little seating areas. The quality of baths alone made me want to return over and over. A lot of thoughts were put into the food and the presentation was wonderful. But we felt the speed of serving was quite slow. Maybe we were just very hungry lol. The room itself was like a movie set. We felt like we traveled back in time (in every sense of the word : only one free electrical plug). It was so beautiful we spent the first 20 min taking pictures. In all, I wouldn't chose another place to stay if I ever visit Ikaho Onsen again.

This is a very historic inn that was founded in the Taisho era and is located within easy reach of Ishidangai. Koganeyu is very pleasant, especially Ninoyu, which is 1m deep and it was my first experience, so it was very warm. I booked a room in the main building, and the toilets and other plumbing areas had been renovated, making it very clean and comfortable. However, most of the dishes served at the restaurant were already arranged on the table, and there was no explanation from the waiter. As for the tempura, I couldn't eat the ``Lotus Lotus Shrimp'' because it had a bad smell and seemed to be spoiled, perhaps because it was a rotten ingredient. I asked them to lower the amount for the whole family, but there was no explanation or answer as to whether it was damaged or not.This dinner incident ruined this trip. I have written many reviews so far, but I have never had an experience like this before, and I am very sorry to write such a review. It was a ryokan that I had high expectations for, so I wish they had given a more detailed explanation.

The attached bar & cafe is also very nice and a fan. The only downside is the hotel amenities. . . . Considering the environment, it's probably a soap shampoo, but it makes my hair dry. The body soap also gives a rough finish to the moisture of the hot springs. There is not air volume, too, and dryer put is too disappointing. Recently, every ryokan hotel has high-quality amenities, so I only brought basic cosmetics by myself, but when staying at this ryokan, I recommend that you bring everything.
