We arrived at the ryokan in afternoon after a 10 hrs journey (7 hrs flight and a 3 hrs train ride). Unfortunately on the day of arrival the weather was bad and the shops were all closed, we were so hungry but could not go out for lunch. They were so kind to prepare udon for us although the kitchen is closed during lunch time. It was a simple meal but it felt so warm from their gesture. We enjoyed the private onsen and the food was excellent. We were bound to depart after breakfast to Minakami the next day but there was a bad snow storm and all local train services were cancelled for that day. The staff were so kind to inform us about the cancellation although they speak no English and was trying their best to bring the message across, and even suggest and arrange a taxi for us to Niigata. Our experience with them was great in all aspect, the service, the food ,the ryokan and the onsen. One of the best ryokan I ever went. Melvin ( Singapore )

A long-established ryokan with a Showa feel, although the washrooms and toilets have been partially renovated. For example, in May, there is a sense of fun for each season, such as hina dolls and Yoshizu, and the hospitality is exhaustive. The food was hot and delicious. When you arrive at the inn, first open the window. Although it's in the middle of town, birds are chirping and the air is comfortable. In addition, please respect the private open-air bath that was renovated from the room. Because it's in the middle of town, it might have been better if it wasn't an open-air bath. Tsukioka Onsen has many luxury inns, but the long-established inns are also good.

月岡温泉内に位置する全12室の老舗旅館。部屋数が少ないので館内が空いてて良い。室内はコタツや古風なタンス等が設置されておりとても落ち着く。食事はお肉も野菜もお米も美味しいし、器は季節感があり可愛い。月岡温泉は夜にライトアップされる足湯やモニュメントがあるが、この宿なら徒歩ですぐ。
