A very good hotel. The owner is very kind and enthusiastic. He told us which attractions are worth visiting. The hotel is located in the center of the main island. The scenery is very beautiful. It is close to a supermarket and a gas station. There is also a small shop and a fish and chip shop. There is also a takeaway Chinese restaurant very close by, but the taste is an improved version from abroad, closer to the ********* one. However, I recommend the hotel’s lunch and dinner. You can tell the boss what you want to eat, and the boss will prepare it very carefully. , we didn’t know it at first. After communicating with the boss, the fish meal and chicken meal prepared by the boss were of course made according to our requirements. They were very delicious. Of course, the boss would not cook Chinese food, but the curry rice and other dishes prepared by the boss were very delicious. Tourists said it was delicious because we like to eat light food. The taste is similar to Michelin. The hotel bed is soft and comfortable. Among them, the facilities were negotiated with benefits. We went to see the Aurora. The boss also told us where is better to see it and which website to check for warnings. This hotel is warm and like home. I recommend everyone to book this hotel. However, in summer, you must book three months in advance, otherwise there will be no Location.

The Brae hotel is centrally located and prefect if you are planning to use the hotel as a base and travel around the islands for day trips. Easy routes to Yell and Unst as well as Lerwick and the airstrip. The hotel is on the main road, near the famous Frankies, fish and chip shop. We spent 4 night and 5 days at the hotel and an awesome time. The rooms are well equipped with tea, coffee, hairdryer etc. The staff, namely Tracey, Scott and Curtis, at the Brae Hotel made us feel very welcome and cared for. The team are always willing to accommodate you if they can. Breakfast, was a massive spread, cooked by Scott and Curtis and served with friendly chat and banter. There was live local music in the bar on evening with refreshments. Thank you to the team for looking after us!! Famida and Tam

This has got to be the best, well run hotel in the area. Its architecture is very much in keeping with the surroundings - welcoming, understated and efficient Reception staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is good, offering a continental breakfast buffet as well as cooked items to order. Various salads and soups are available at lunch, and there is a nice menu for dinner. I had room 225, a corner room on the upper level and faced a pretty farm and lake. There is good lighting for reading, TV has streaming services, wi-fi is good and the room has everything needed to be comfortable. On a special note - the hotel offers the best laundry service I’ve ever experienced . I turned in a bagful at 8:45 am and it was

I spent one night here and the position is favourable to visit Shetland. There's parking in front of the hotel and the bus stop is close too. The hotel is comfortable although a little "colder" (not referring to temperature) than smaller hotels, offering more standard services. Room was clean and comfortable, bathroom was comfortable too.. the issue was that I couldn't charge my phone close to the bed. Dinner was tasty and I had to book my table: soup, fish main course and ice cream.. I was able to get gluten free options and I appreciated it. Breakfast was included: full English breakfast plus a small buffet (juice, yogurt, butter,..). It was an enjoyable stay overall.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong stay at the Brae Hotel. The staff we interacted with - Dave, John, and Ilsa - were attentive, personable, well informed about the area, and very helpful. Dave was exceptionally generous in sharing his detailed and insightful knowledge of the islands and he gave us recommendations that allowed us to explore sights we would not typically have visited. We had breakfast every morning and two dinners, all of which were excellent thanks to Scott, Curtis and Maurice. Given its central location, the Brae Hotel is ideally situated to explore the main island and to access the ferry for the outer islands.

Really lovely staff and great views. Nice atmosphere, very relaxed and the staff couldn't do enough for me. It's worth looking outside lerwick for reasonably priced accomodation with a great view and parking! Although a wee bit retro, rooms are clean and comfortable.

We stayed at the Brae Hotel from 31 May to 4 June with two other couples. We couldn’t fault the place, the rooms are very clean and comfortable, the food is great and very good value. Tracy, Suzanne and Dave have a great team of staff; so friendly and welcoming across the board. Special mention has to go to Scott and Curtis who run the bar, wait on tables and also run breakfast ! They made our holiday with their excellent service, morning karaoke (!) and all round can do attitude. We can definitely recommend this great hotel, very well situated in North Mainland too. Can’t wait to visit here again!

Highly recommend this hotel. I was travelling alone for work and stayed here for 2 nights. As a solo female traveller 600+ miles from home I planned to stay in my room with my laptop when not out working but the staff here are so good I didn't stay in my room much at all. The reception staff are so friendly and Curtis and Scott made my trip! They are so eager and great at their job, they couldn't have done more to make me feel so comfortable. Breakfast in the mornings was cheery with their singing too! They literally do not stop! Even when I came in late one night from work they were just heading out the door to go home but stopped when I came in to make sure I have everything I need before they eventually left. They even had my stresshead husband back home relaxing as he knew i felt comfortable and well looked after because of them! Managers take note because these boys need a promotion and high recognition. Will definitely be staying again
