We stayed in the garden potting shed suite. Beautifully decorated with lots of thoughtful finishing touches - a fridge in the room for fresh milk with our tea and chilled water. Very quiet and secluded in the garden. The staff were very welcoming and headful. We look forward to the restaurant opening again in the near future.

This hotel has tremendous potential but, sadly, it is running itself down. It is a beautiful building with a lovely garden. The lounge, the snooker room and the conservatory are all elegant. Our bedroom and bathroom were spacious but in need of repair. It was lovely to see that they had provided a kettle and a Nespresso machine and ample sachets and pods. There was also an iron and board in the wardrobe. What the hotel lacks is service. It is working with a shoestring amount of staff, with no service at all after 9.00 pm. Breakfast was adequate but not spectacular and the restaurant has closed down. We didn’t get the opportunity to try the spa, so I cannot comment. Parking was very easy.

This is just a review of the spa as the hotel will hopefully be under new ownership soon. At present, there is no restaurant and a bit of a sad feeling everywhere. But I had a brilliant treatment in the Spa which is at the bottom of a very pretty garden. My therapist was excellent and did a great job, I look forward to going again.

Sad to report our four night stay in room Tamarix (£265 pr night) was well below what was recommended on their website or by CondeNast and VisitEngland 5* both of which have been notified with all our issues. Gemma the mgr was very kind and said from day one she would address our issues with housekeeping as we found food on the floor after checking into our room. Day two gave us a dirty coffee cup and thread bare bath towel, day three a hair in my husband’s breakfast and a stained facecloth in the bathroom left by housekeeping. I have pictures of everything but not the hair as the plate was removed before I could capture it. There were other issues as well, so much so Gemma gave us a reduced room rate. I know this property is for sale and the hotel I’m sure was once worthy of the high ratings but sadly it is really getting run down and just what I would expect from a low rating b&b. The staff overall were polite except for the very rude female waitress who perhaps finds mornings not her forte. The main building is beautiful and I hope new owners are found soon before it gets further into disrepair.

The Victorian Potting Shed room in the garden was amazing. Had a lovely calm feel to it. Very clean. Had all amenities. The Decor was lovely. Loved the fact that the mirror was also the television. Used the spa facilities for an hour, I thought the price for an hour was really good for the use of the hydrotherapy tub, hot tub, sauna etc. It was very private. Hotel is lovely and the gardens are beautiful. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Booked my daughter and myself in for the Sunday package which was a great price for what we got. Paid for a massage which was very relaxing. The whole experience was amazing. Would definitely book again.

Another great time at the Eastbury Hotel. Fantastic service and a fantastic location. Having a couple of drinks in the garden with the sun is a lovely experience. We will definitely be coming again. We enjoyed our afternoon tea alongside this.

Generally a good experience, BUT : The handle was coming off the bathroom door the day we arrived. It is a heavy sliding door, awkward to close without the handle. Particularly for us, both in our 70s.I mentioned this to the staff. Reassurance that it would be fixed followed. It was not. I mentioned it every day for the 4 days of our stay. Nothing was done. By the time we left, all 8 screws were very loose, the top 4 quite useless. This did not seem to fit well with a 5 star hotel.

We thought we would book a special break away for our anniversary but was disappointed by the lack of attention to detail. The Potting Shed room was comfortable but the windows needed cleaning, the bathroom &/wardrobe doors squeaked and there were dead plants outside. Breakfast was lovely though the flowers on the table were dead. The afternoon tea was disappointing.

Delighted with our "potting shed" suite, which was spacious, warm and well appointed. Great to see that the hotel is building environmentally-friendly accommodation (underfloor heating, green roof, etc). Brilliant location right in the middle of this charming town, but with ample parking out the back. The only criticism might be that the breakfast service could have been a bit more on the ball.
