The breakfast variety and quality, central location near amenities, spacious and comfortable rooms, and exceptionally friendly and attentive staff were highlighted by guests. No notable disadvantages were mentioned.

Lovely venue let down but shabby rooms and lack of cleanliness. Staff tried their best but don’t seem to care about effect on guests. We had no hot water or pressure in our shower in a family suite - initial response was to say they would allow us access to another bathroom - not satisfactory when I had booked a family suite to be able to look after my son who is autistic and haw epilepsy - I can’t be walking around the hotel in a bathrobe with him. The staff did, to be fair, give us a discount on the room to reflect lack of en suite. Breakfast was not good - cold food and over cooked. A terrible shame as it’s a lovely place

We stayed here last Friday in Yew room and very good it was too. The day before we were due to arrive, we had a call from the hotel advising they are not currently offering lunch or dinner. We appreciated this heads up and thought it was a nice professional touch. On arrival, we were told our room was ready and we were allowed access at 1.30. A good start! Yew room is delightful. Cool in style and cool in temperature as it’s in the shade and a welcome relief from the stifling heatwave. It also has its own private garden area which we both enjoyed relaxing in. We had a minor issue with hot water supply to the bath, but this was quickly sorted and we appreciated the very prompt responses from Gemma (hotel manager). Our brief dealings with Gemma were excellent and it is clear she is a real asset to the hotel. Yes, the staff do clock off at 9pm but if you get organised, they will ensure you have everything you need before they go. In our case we ordered end of evening wine as a nightcap which Gemma delivered before she left. Breakfast was good although I do have a gripe with places that have the conveyor belt toast system. We enjoyed our stay and if our travels bring us to the area again then we would have no hesitation in returning to The Eastbury.
