A lovely hotel, well located within walking distance of Jingan Temple and several good eateries. Staff are friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble! Rooms are a nice size with plenty of amenities, and I had a lovely view of the Bund. Breakfast offers plenty of options for all dietary requirements.

Other reviewers have written that this is an “opera” inspired hotel but anyone with a background in Shakespeare will see through that. Each room is named with a word from a verse of a Shakespeare play instead of numbered. Rooms have Chinese editions of Shakespeare’s plays and a sort of “newsletter” explaining the connection between the Bard and the hotel. The bar has A Hamlet quote depicted in fluorescent lights. Michael Fassbender’s “Macbeth” plays on a big screen in the lobby. It’s clear someone here really likes Shakespeare. As to the hotel itself, it is recessed from the street making it somewhat hard for taxi drivers to find but ensures a quiet nights sleep in a lively part of the city. You’re a short walking distance to places like Tock’s and Taco Bell and just a little further distance for the Starbucks Roastery. This is an even better location if you need to visit the US Consular Office for passport related issues and the like as it’s only a few minutes walk away in the Isetan building. Leave your bag and computer here to minimize the security rigamarole of the visit there. Only negative potentially is that my room was pretty dim even with lights on, but that was a minor point, at least to me. Probably not an ideal location if you’re a first time Shanghai tourist looking to spend most of your time strolling the Bund and darting back and forth to Pudong— about a 20 minute taxi ride away. But if you’ve done the Bund and you’re in Shanghai for other reasons, great location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would certainly stay again.

I stayed in the Portma Ritz Carlton for 2 nights just after Christmas. The service was excellent, all of the staff went above and beyond to help me. They greeted me by name, remembered my coffee and drink orders and went to great lengths to help me. The staff in the club lounge were amazing, Lisa, Tina, Sunny, Vincent and others. The floor attendant Cici was also so helpful. The location is great, many restaurants around and short walk to The Kerry Center and Jingan temple. definitely recommend!

This a a cute hotel in a great location if you want to go out in downtown Shanghai, since its surrounded by restaurants and bars. The room is of a good size and although the soundproofing isnt amazing there were no noisy guests on my floor so I slept well and the bed was warm and comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and efficient,and there is a nice cafe downstairs. The sink in the bedroom area is a little odd but that is really the only bad thing I can say.

Everything was perfect except, upon arrival to our room there was a notice on the table which said the swimming pool would be under maintenance the following day for one week. If you want a hotel with a swimming pool, always call the hotel first to confirm the pool is open since there will be no notice via the trip app before you book or after you book.

Everything you need to rest and go again. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. You can hear quite a bit of noise around, but for the price, it was fine. The only thing for me, was that it’s not too close to a metro. Otherwise all was fine, for the price.

The staff at the reception cannot speak fluent English, but they are very helpful and positive. They do their best to answer your questions. Very nice working area on the ground floor for business purposes. Chic design looks quite good. Location is perfect as its in walking distance to the famous West Nanjing Road and its metro station. On the other direction, if you want to walk a bit more, you can also reach to Hanzhong Road metro station. Rooms are relatively small, so if you travel as a family, you'd better check the room photos before booking this hotel. Also, specifically room 714, had dampness smell in the bathroom. I hope the management can find a way to fix it. I recommend this hotel to especially business and solo travelers.

Special forces are on a business trip, the rhythm is very fast, but the hotel is well chosen. The location is excellent, you can walk in the city as soon as you leave the hotel door, three steps and one cafe, five steps and one bar, where is there such a place in Beijing, people who know tell me. Quiet in the middle of noisy, I slept very well, the last time I slept so well or last time. The young lady who checked in was beautiful and had a good attitude, check-in and check-out, and the efficiency was slippery. The budget for business trip 500-700 is very suitable, and it is fast to Lujiazui.

The room was nice and clean if a little bit small. If you are in the city and need a room close to everything, this is it. The hotel is In walking distance to the major shopping center and 15 minutes walk from the embassy. The star of this establishment is the service. The staff is kind and courteous. They also have a working robot which is always a plus. I would recommend to persons who want to explore this area and need an affordable place as well as those who come to do an interview at the embassy.

The location is good, very close to Jing'an Temple and Metro Line 2 and 7. Life is very convenient. The rooftop garden on the 8th floor is clean. There is a small theater on the 4th floor. The location is very central. It’s connected to many important sites: Starbucks reserve, Shanghai natural history museum and two metro lines. It was convenient point to travel from to explore Shanghai. There are also plenty of restaurants and shop. The rooms are beautiful and clean. It had many utensils for cooking and comfort. It also had a projector to watch movies at the end if the day. The information from the management is very clear and they were available to help us with all their needs. They sent extra water, tissues and helped us book a taxi.

I didn’t feel very satisfied with the room I originally booked. I upgraded to a round bed room. The round bed room is still very beautiful and the environment feels good. The most important thing is that it is very, very close to the Museum of Nature, 200 meters away in a straight line. There is also a subway nearby. Station, you can go to the science and technology museum, but personally feel that there are not many breakfasts nearby

The building is very special, it’s obviously got character but well the inside is very dated, some of the fixtures are not very well detailed for example the shower has some screws coming off and well it’s an old building so it’s understandable, the breakfast was good so was the coffee but half of the staff was friendly and half was a bit careless. The sense of detail is great~ Late night porridge is available every night from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Free porridge and snacks are provided. I will bring my parents here around the Chinese New Year, and I plan to book this place then. Really highly recommended

This is a really comfortable apartment in a great location. Transportation to everywhere is made really easy with the West Nanjing Rd subway just across the street. There are 24h convenient stores and a large western supermarket nearby for grocery shopping. The inside is spacious and has a decent kitchen and a convenient set up of a bathroom, large closets, and 2 large bedrooms with king beds. We were here for a work trip and stayed for about a week and the amenities are complete to serve the apartment as a home away from home. The host is very responsive and accommodating and she also provides clear instructions for check-in/out and for the usage of all the equipment in the apartment. Thank you, Faye. Highly recommend and will come back again in winter to try out the floor heating!

My family had stayed for 3 nights on New Year 2023/2024 trip. It was wonderful place to stay with warm hospitality and clean room. Great breakfast line and cooking food station. Noodle dish was my recommend. In door swimming pool was big enough for children and safe with a lifeguard. It was fantastic.

The service matched the price paid. The room was clean and the staff very diligent and professional. The hotel is located right in the busy center of the city and it’s close to almost everything. The subway station was not too far and the bars were even closer. I would book it again if i have to go to Shanghai any other time.

服務：很好！給我們升級了房間。 環境：房間確實不大，但是有個較大的窗户，窗外是樹，能看到綠色不錯。房間不夠隔音，但是還好沒遇到很吵鬧的客人，所以能接受。 設施：很智能。鏡子有燈，適合化粧。很喜歡智能馬桶，自動沖水，而且馬桶裏有燈，夜裡起來上廁所感覺很舒服。洗澡水壓很足，水温很穩定。床頭設定的座椅和桌子在較小的空間裏非常實用。 衞生：被子和枕頭都比較新，床單等很潔白。睡的較安心。 地勢：地理位置很贊，步行逛靜安區。個人覺得非常適合週末或者小假期來居住，靜安區的大小商場，各種中西美食，足夠玩了！ 這個價格在上海的靜安區，我覺得性價比還不錯。
