Kai Man Platinum Hotel

While the location of the hotel is fantastic for both metro access and pedestrian sightseeing, the overall effect left much to be desired. The breakfast each morning consisted of one steamed vegetable bun, one hard boiled egg, one banana, one pre-packaged sweet bread, and one box of milk. The rooms are quite small, which was to be expected, but they are also up three flights of stairs - no elevator access. From the outside, it is not at all obvious that the building contains the Kai Man Platinum, and instead lists the name of a separate hostel. The building's no-smoking policy is also not strictly enforced, and upon more than one occasion we had to climb the stairs to our room amid the stench of cigarette smoke. Overall, my child said it best when he told his father (who did not accompany us on this quick trip to Shanghai) "there's nothing platinum about the Kai Man Platinum."
