Huamin Youth Hostel (Shanghai Bund Branch)

the receptionist can speak english so it was easy to checked in. they also help me set up my alipay to order food. the only downside was the hostel is located in 3rd floor (and have no elevator). i bring 2 large suitcases so it was a hassle to go upstairs. but overall it was a good budget hostel.

Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. First time,staying at this facility as hostel and had so much fun. First time of staying with mostly Chinese travellers and some foreigners. There is balcony where you can smoke and dry your clothes such as socks and underwears. Some experience watching Chinese's cooking In the morning. There are si⁹x bed-bunk, where I stayed for three nights. A few sleepers were nice and considerate. And 1 or 2 sleeper smoked in the toilet inside the room. Now I am staying at Dengba hostel but really missed the Huamin hostel.

Great hostel, clean rooms and helpful staff, close to subway and the hart of the city center!

My room was so dirty I couldn't even count how many people's hair I found on the floor next to the bed and bathroom's floor as well. It's so disgusting. Zero chance that the room was cleaned. I hope they changed bed sheets at least. The bathroom is horrible. I mean you have to take a shower right in the toilet. All the floor and toilet became wet immediately. It took all night to let it dry. That means if you just want to use toilet after shower you can even enter because it flooded. Also there is not hot water. I had to take cold should for two days. Staff don't speak English, not really welcome and none at the reception desk pretty often. Book this place only if it is cheap. Because the location is pretty good and it's close to everything.

Perfect location - less than 100m to Nanjing East Metro Station! The hostel occupies the **fully renovated 3rd floor** of an older building (note: no elevator). Rooms are spotless with 4-6 beds, each having **private bathrooms/showers**. Surprisingly quiet despite downtown location! AC worked perfectly in summer (can’t comment on winter). Price is unbeatable for this area. Staff like **Luo Rong** are friendly and helpful – though note **limited English fluency**, so very few foreigners stay here. As a Chinese speaker, I had zero issues! Dozens of small restaurants downstairs offer authentic local food. Will 100% rebook if returning to Shanghai!"*
