Grand Hotel Nawanshahr
3.6/53 Reviews
I rarely write bad reviews because a bad review not only affect the reputation but also the jobs of the people who work there. So I tend to ignore any minor mishaps or sloppy standards of service. But I couldn't ignore the absolute robbery that happened to me which travellers should be aware of. The staff has thieves among them and the ***agement probably gets a cut out of that. My £100 was stolen, with a blatant 'We can't do anything about it' thrown in my face when I raised a complaint. Here's the story. I am from the UK and can modestly say I have travelled a fair bit of the planet. I stayed at The Grand from 25 to 28 January. Other than one large suitcase I had a Nike gym bag with a TSA-approved number lock on it. The bag if scrunched can be opened despite the lock but I naively assumed why would anyone go to those limits to steal, and that a lock on a bag is a deterrent anyway. I was wrong. On 27th, I counted the money in my Nike bag. 20 notes of £50, amounting to £1000 in total. Perfect. I returned late at night, didn't check the bag. The room was serviced as usual and I slept unsuspecting of anything missing. On 28th, I checked out from The Grand and checked into another hotel nearby only because I extended my stay in Nawanshahr and The Grand didn't have rooms for the next 3 days. The bag was with me the whole time. Once checked in, I counted the money and two notes of £50 (~Rs. 10000.00) were missing. There were only 18 notes instead of 20. Wasting no time, I went back to The Grand and raised my concern. I requested them to check the cameras. The ***ager on duty assured me that he would investigate and asked me to revisit for an update the next day. On 29th, I went back and was told the ***ager was off for the day. On 30th, same thing again. On 31st, I went in a bit early, at 9:30, the ***ager was away again but after waiting for half an hour I was introduced to a new ***ager. He then sent me off to speak to another ***ager who is in charge of CCTV and camera security operations. I reiterated my issue but it was like talking into a well. I could only hear myself. Nothing resolved. I then spoke to the original ***ager who appeared back on the scene (the one I initially complained to and he was gone missing ever since). I told him about the event my family was hosting, spending over a lakh rupees, in their hotel later on that day and that I would come back to speak to him after the event so he and his team could investigate the case meanwhile. At 4 PM, after the event, I went back to speak to the ***ager. He knew I was there sitting at the reception, waiting to speak to him, but I was ignored and made to wait for about half an hour. He then coldly admitted that he had spoken to the staff and nobody admitted to stealing. Really? How odd that nobody came forward screaming, ”I have stolen £100, woohoo! I am a thief!” This was getting ridiculous by the minute. I then tried to gauge their intentions, that if they could gi
