We spent a perfect two days in Porto Loutro on the Hill. I went with my daughter, her best friend and my neice. We shared a room for four which was so comfortable (amazing matresses). We had everything we needed in the room and a view to die for. Everything was perfect, the food was delicious and the buffet breakfast went the extra mile with delicious home made jams etc. We rented a pedalo and paddle boards and walked up to the castle. We walked in and out on the E4 pathway via sweet water beach which also added a really nice touch to our stay. The welcome was warm and the staff were amazing, we will definitely return again soon.

I organized an active tour of Crete in May of 2024 and we spent the first 2 nights exploring the South coast of Crete. Porto Loutro on the Hill was a lovely place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable, not fancy, but clean and spacious. The views are unbelievable. The restaurant food was yummy, and sitting and having drinks on the terrace was simply gorgeous and relaxing. The staff was helpful and accommodating to our group’s needs, and everyone loved the manager’s dog Daila. This is a wonderful place to rest while experiencing the stunning South Coast.

For more than 20 years we've spent many happy holidays using Hotel Porto Loutro on the Hill as our base for discovering the joys of Loutro and further afield in Sfakia. The owner, Sophie, wasn't around this time, just the Manager, Costos. Our welcome was frosty and we had no offer of help with baggage up to the top floor (a lot of steps!). Sadly, the hotel has now been 'discovered' by 'Swim Trek', which meant our usually peaceful breakfast, wasn't! It was noisy, the ham, cheese and eggs mostly eaten by swim trekkers or they were cold, and service was non-existent. We returned to the hotel one lunchtime and were greeted with the sight of 50+ day trippers from TUI - not one single table available to a hotel guest! TUI apparently have this booking 4 days a week. Sadly, this will be our last stay in this hotel, how it's changed!

This hotel is a great find, and the terrace is spectacular. Even if you don't stay here, be sure to visit for a meal and to get a fantastic view of the entrance to the harbour and the coast along to sweetwater. Sunrise and sunset are magical due to the reflections on the cliff faces. Food was excellent quality and the best of Greek food that I ate outside Chania. Rooms are cosy, with good balconies and all ameneties, but not as luxurious as some others may be. I was very comfortable.

Spent a week here with friends. Great location, views etc. Rooms are spacious, airy, clean and the balcony is a plus. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were great with good variety, and the bar service excellent!
