"If you are planning to visit the western alpine tracks and ski slopes and you are traveling with pets you shouldn't miss the opportunity of a stay at the Shackleton Chalet in Sestriere. This gracious hotel/residence has been for me the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, enjoyable both for humans and "hairy paws", as it offers rooms and delightful mini apartments, some of them with its own well fenced garden. I could mention a series of pluses that made my stay so comfortable, namely the indipendent heating, a fully functional kitchenette, the extra large shower box, a garage parking and the prompt response of the management at any need and request. But, on top of that, my dogs had a ball!...

We had a great stay at Chalet Weal, not in town or next to the lifts, but it strenghts easily made up for the short walk to the lifts in the morning. Booked directly on, sestriere dot it , which was quick and easy (and a saving over other options) Our stay was very comfortable as we had a super king size bed which was very comfortable (firm) and our son had the sofa bed. As a single we threw a sheet on it, but in less than 30 seconds the back pulled out to make it a double, which he preferred. Each morning we walked to the bakers (50 yards) which opened at 7:45am and got croissants and daily sandwich provisions. (It had breads/meats/cheese/meats/pasta/wine/ice-cream and more...) Hired a car a Turin airport and booked a slot for it in the buildings under ground carpark (felt a safer option) but plenty of outside parking available too.

Absolutely lovely accommodation with a bakery/deli opposite. Our room was perfect with planty of storage spac for the 3 of us. It was spotlessly clean, fresh, super king comfy bed. Asked for additional pillows, and a they were there when we got back. Sylvia went above and beyond in ensuring our trip was great including sorting out lift passes and private transfers as well as making great recommendations for ski school and spa treatments. Thank you Sylvia.
