Oh wow! What can I say about the secret, hidden treasure that is Palm Beach in the Gambia...!! In many ways, I do not want to expose and spout too much about the place, it truly is an absolute hidden gem- AMAZING staff, clean pool, outstanding food, incredible beach, 24/7 security... currently affordable. I'll be honest, if it had not been the previous reviews speaking in this same positive, regard, i would not have considered Palm Beach- Oh how I am so pleased I did, quite frankly, Palm Beach should be under review in the 'star' status... this is currently a 2* rating- offering a 5* service, the staff and owners go beyond anything I have ever endured in many 4/5* hotels- I actually ended up extending twice, for differing reasons, with complete assistance and support throughout, from the incredible Raj, who manages and runs this amazing family hotel- I cant wait to go back! A true home from home experience.

Stayed here with my wife & daughter for the second time .The hotel is ideally located on the beach & easy to get out & about ..Palm Beach is always kept clean plus caters for all ages , as my 4 year old daughter loves it here .And great for a evening drink sat around the pool .I would highly highly recommend anyone to stay here .As Raj & his staff are excellent at making your stay perfect , and if any problems do arise , they always do their best to sort the issues out . A charming hotel which represents the very best of Gambia. The hotel staff are so friendly and could not be more helpful. The food is fantastic and there is music every night, which creates a wonderful inviting atmosphere. There is a really relaxing feel to the place. The price is very reasonable. Next time I intend to go to Gambia I will be returning to Palm Beach Hotel.

Just returned from another great holiday in The Gambia staying at Palm Beach for approx 20th time..this hotel gets mixed reviews but all I can say is...Go with an open mind you will be staying in a 2* hotel, with basic accomodation and a little rough around the edges, so do not expect to get 5* luxury..but what you will get is 5* service. The staff are faultless very friendly, helpful and accomodating, nothing is too much trouble and they will bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. The pool boys will go above and beyond to find you a sunbed and umbrella, the waiters will always be on hand day and night for your food and drinks needs, the reception staff on hand for any concerns and advice, there is entertainment every night, cultural groups live bands and if you play Bingo you will have a unique experience. The holiday myself and my husband have each time we go calls us back again and again.. and... the location is AMAZING literally on the beach ⛱️

Nice hotel, people need to remember this is a 2 star hotel in The Gambia. The good point out weigh the negatives. Nice room, cleaned daily, free aircon which is a plus, king size bed very comfy, asked for a blanket got a quilt, hot shower. Drink choice good, really nice coffee and food ok. Each evening bought can of coke and got the ice free, never got charged. Taxis available outside or a nice stroll on the beach gets you most places. The staff are friendly and helpful, evening entertainment ok, bingo, karaoke and live music. Very quiet this time of year as it’s Ramadan. Yes I will be returning next season, I have stayed in Gambia many times in 3&4 star hotels most I would not go back to now we have found Palm Beach. Thanks to all the staff for a great holiday.

Hi everyone! I want to share with you my experience at this hotel, so you will get the right idea of how this place looks like, it’s nothing like the photos when it was new or a very long time ago. Firstly, when we arrived, the first thing ( instead of a greeting ), we were asked how would we like to pay, dollars, euros or dalasis. That seemed strange, as they insisted to pay on the arrival instead of at departure. We then been given a room, that the bathroom door couldn’t be closed shut and two sockets out of three, didn’t work, so we asked for another room. We have been given another room, I’ve checked the bathroom door if it shuts and it did. Later, when I went in to have a shower, I’ve pulled the door and the whole handle and the centre axle came off completely, as shown in photos. The next day, me and my partner went for a safari, so we asked the previous night if they can prepare two boxes with some breakfast, that was included in the package. They’ve said that they don’t have any boxes and that the chef arrives later than the hour we were supposed to leave for the safari. Obviously, the breakfast could have been in the form of a sandwich or something similar and prepared the previous night. When confronted about that the next evening when we arrived from the safari, we complained, we wrote a honest review of all the unfairness that we’ve been treated with, and asked for an explanation. The young manager, Raj, said they’re sorry for all these unfortunate events and offered us an extra night of stay at a reduced price, from £40 to £30, which we declined, because we booked already somewhere nicer. We asked instead for a dinner on the house, and he asked us to remove the comment and offered a bottle of wine and a dessert, which we declined because we don’t drink alcohol. Then he agreed on a dinner. I’ve ordered fish and rice, and the fish that came was defrosted then frozen again and it tasted foul and disgusting. I’ve send it back, to be returned the same piece fried in breadcrumbs this time, thinking that I might not notice the difference. The deserts have arrived, in the form of some very old, rock solid tiramisus, that were at least a few weeks old, and we didn’t eat them, being afraid of food poisoning. For me that was the last straw, nobody should do these disgusting things intentionally to people and get away with it. They also charge you for pool towels, not allowing you to use the room towels. They charge people for a glass of ice if you ask them. The excuse for them, every single time is: we are a budget hotel, although there are hotels around here with the same price or cheaper, same stars, offering way better price quality service. DO NOT SUPPORT THESE HEINOUS HEARTED PEOPLE by going to their business, as it’s a high risk to your wellbeing! The staff, which are local Gambians, are extremely nice and polite, but the the family is British-Indian that have on lease this place, are running this place down into the ground, paying thei

OK, rooms are a little "rustic" but everything is clean. Plenty of hot water, air-conditioning, which we didn't really use a lot, works very well. We ate at the restaurant a few times and the food was pretty good. Breakfast, we personally enjoyed it, I know, some people wanted more variety, but how much does one really need. Most of the staff are really great ! Thick cushions on sunbeds by the beach and on poolside with plenty of shade. What really made this holiday extra special was the amazing bird life. We brought binoculars and saw so many species from the little "balcony"next to the entrance to the room. By chance we were given a room next the large wall surrounding the property. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel goes way beyond its 2 stars the rooms are basic but have everything I you require from comfy beds with pristine bedding and lovely shower it’s cleaned everyday what more could you ask for. The grounds are lovely and kept beautiful and clean at all times as is pool if there’s a leaf or bug just happens to drop in it’s fished out immediately by great pool staff never had that before even in 5 star Eygypt hotels. The bar staff are so attentive but never pushy and great chef . The manager and staff are a credit to this hotel so much so I’m coming back after only been home 3 weeks but this time fetching my daughter and granddaughter with me
