This is the sort of place where the staff will always greet you with "hello, sir/ma'am" whenever they see you. Nice swimming pool and very good food at the restaurant, even though slightly pricy at first (I guess it's fine being a resort), the portions are actually huge and very fresh. Try their lemon chicken on rice for 20 ringgit (February 2024). All you can eat breakfast included for free even with the dorm bed: fried noodles, a very thick pancake, fruit, British breakfast, beef sausages, coffee, juice, etc. Walk-in price is 80RM, cheaper here on Trip. The dorm looks exactly the same as the one I staid in Kinabatangan, which is always funny (same contractor?). Comfortable night, with a new AC and fan, specially so considering I had it all to myself since the other few guests they had had private accommodation. Dorm showers have plenty of hot water and are clean, but there's no soap or amenities beyond the towel they give you at check-in. Bring your own. The staff at the restaurant sometimes disappears for no reason in the middle of service, even if there's about 20 of them considering réception is right there. They helped me book a taxi to the airport (50 ringgit), since there's no grab available (spent 1h looking for one). Don't bother trying to get one, ask them to call a taxi for you, really. This resort is about 1km away from the three main things to do at sepilok. You will be walking on the side of the road to get anywhere since transportation options are scarce and expensive. Overall this is standard of service here in Borneo, so don't settle for less than this.

Excellent resort. The villa was beautiful and the pool great. Food in the restaurant was really good and the service was perfect. I recommend this place as the number 1 choice in sepilok. We stayed at another resort down the road a few night earlier, but this was definitely the best. Well done.

A great stay at Sepilok. Good location to visit the orangutan, Sunbear and the discovery centre. They are all walking distance but can also arrange transportation via reception. Also good distance travel to Labuk. Nicely built with great staff. Love the service and they really make us like home. Very accommodative and giving good advice on our travel. Food is good and my son loves their special fried rice. The pool is good to cool off after a hot day. Room is clean and lovely. Also can organise its tour to Kinabatagan River.

I stayed at the dorm for one night, it was perfect! loved the place, the staff was super kind and attentive, they helped me keep my stuff as I went to see the orangutan rehabilitation center and arrived early before check-in time. They helped me book a tour. The hotel is beautiful! the pool area is super nice to relax, the kitchen has nice options to eat, the dorms are super clean and the showers are amazing! excellent experience and would love to stay there again, truly recommend! unfortunately I only took videos and not photos 🤣

This place is fantastic. They just need a couple of things: more shade around the pool & better WiFi around the pool. If they could add a pool table, table tennis or other games that would improve the stay for the rainy periods. The best resort in Borneo that I saw.

I just wanted to go to Sepilok in Sandakan and walk the rainforest aerial ropeway and meet the orangutans. I chose this great resort hotel. The staff and managers are all very nice. I pray that they won’t be disappointed when we meet again. We waited too long! I wish everyone at Rainforest Resort a blessed new year! healthy and happy!

Good hotel, very cool facilities, the rooms are cabins. You reach them through walkways. Very poor breakfast. Dinner is a la carte and is very good.

Lovely staff who really do their best, great pool area, food delicious but unfortunately not fresh (peas/corn from a can) rather poor value for money. No outside sockets for charging, but also no reception in the dorm (not even digital). Conclusion: Looks like 5*, has the same prices, but not the comfort.

Great service, great accommodation and great good. Environment was great. The night walk at Rainforest Discovery Centre gave me the opportunity to see red giant flying squirrels fly, a western tarsier and several slow loris. We also saw a Bornean Pit Viper

Wonderful, only stayed one night but really wish I could have stayed longer. The food was great and the cocktails were the best I have ever had! Accomodation was lovely and the pool refreshing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Recommended

Lovely hotel and great pool. Very pretty surroundings. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was good but did come out separately which is a bit strange. All in all a lovely stay. Was within walking distance of the orangutan sanctuary. It took us 10 minutes to walk there. Also nice is the rainforest centre but didn’t see any wildlife on our visit there.

The lodges were great - modern, well-equipped room and good bathroom in nice surroundings. Lovely swimming pool too. Good cocktails, wine rather pricey though. Food was hit and miss unfortunately and, as others have said, the service needs some improvement. We did have a couple of issues with the hot water. Great location, would recommend overall.

Resort facilities were great. Food was average. Service was dire. Staff were constantly on their phones or doing each others hair at reception. No one seemed to be in charge. They should have had all the info for the 3 local tourist attractions at reception but had to look it up/gave incorrect info on opening times etc. There seemed to be a lot of staff doing nothing but only one waitress serving food. We reckoned they should put her in charge as she seemed to know what she was doing and gave other helpful info too! The driver to the Orangutan/Sunbear centre was apparently doing a university course in customer service. We were disbelieving. He’d also been there for some weeks but had never seen an orangutan. Bizarre as the rehab centres were the only reason the resort would attract visitors. We were booked for 2 nights when we could have seen it all with just a one night stay or as another person we met did- just come in for the morning and seen the rehab centres and travelled onwards!
