Lotte Hotel Seoul Executive Tower

Myeong-dong Seoul|1.76km from Twin City Namsan
Stayed at the Lotte Executive Tower just after the holidays, in a Premier Double Room. Pros: - The entrance of the Executive Tower is absolutely beautiful. Same with the Main Tower. Elegant, refined, beautiful art work. The executive tower check-in desks are on the 15th floor. - Easy access by escalator directly into the Lotte Department Store (from where the escalator takes you to, hang a right to get to the famous food hall!) - Location can’t be beat. Directly across from Eujiro Station (1) and around the corner from Myeong-Dong Walking Street / Night Market and several 7-11s (which are almost as good as the 7-11s in Japan). - Our room was beautiful, spacious, thoughtfully designed and decorated. Very modern touches and upscale finishes. A chandelier in the bathroom?? - Immaculate housekeeping. - Excellent temperature and very strong water pressure in the shower! - Appreciate the 2 complimentary bottles of Evian every day. - Fast wifi speeds. Cons: - Love the Diptyque toiletries but wish they weren’t the communal / shared bottles. There were bits of dried lotion crusted on the pump from the previous occupant. - Weird that neither lobby had a single chair to sit on. What’s up with that? Comes off a bit inhospitable. This isn’t the type of place to attract non-guests / loiterers. A bench wouldn’t kill anyone! - For a 5* hotel and the price we’re paying, it’s disappointing that there is a surcharge should you need a toothbrush, toothpaste or use of the sauna (!!). They claim the charge for toothbrush and paste is to prevent wastage but surely you could just have these small items available upon request at the front desk? - The doormen’s manners range from formal and friendly (some) to indifferent (most) to downright hostile (many), especially if you are not a Korean speaker, as many don’t speak English. I’m not arrogant enough to think they should speak English in a non-English speaking country, but a smile is universal, you know? Would likely stay here again at the right price and given the location.

Hotel Skypark Central Myeongdong

Myeong-dong Seoul|1.89km from Twin City Namsan
Right where all the action of Myeong-dong street market is! Staff were helpful. Able to store luggage at the lobby before check-in and after check out. Toilets are equipped with smart bidet (yay! with seat warmer!!!! so nice in cold weather). Room is clean, though looked a lil rundown, but still acceptable, given that we were mostly out. Halal food available at the street market too (The halal lamb skewer was the best I've had)! The strawberries, grapes that tasted like sweet jellly, (its a no wonder SG markets sells them soo expensive!) On weekdays, street market starts at 5pm, on weekend, it starts by afternoon. Apart from street markets, Lotte store is within walking distance for those who wishes to spend on the higher end products. Not to forget, Olive Young is all the rage there, especially during their sale for that Korean glass skincare! Managed to snag some Kpop items for kids back home. The light sticks were way cheaper than in Singapore, and there were so many merch and photocards available. Even the lomo cards are nice! The airport transfer bus is within walking distance from the hotel. The bus will stop at a few hotels within the area to pick up passengers heading along the way or towards airport. We took the airport transfer bus on a weekend to Incheon Airport Terminal 1. It cost 17000 won/per pax. Journey took nearly 2hrs, considering the weekend traffic at noon. Can't wait to visit again!

The walk from seoul station is not that near. Quite a long walk with direct underpass but flat surface. Take note the underpass only 6am-11pm only. Room was huge for 1 pax, you can even open 2 big luggages on the floor. Had the first guest floor which is on 20th floor, which is quite high already. Room was clean and pillow was soft. Iron only 1 in laundry room.

In June 2019, we only used 1 nights for transit. The inn is right away from Seoul Station 11 exit and walk to the right hand. Yellow signboards can be easily found with markers. 2 The room with a stage bed was given as a single room. It was 51000 won for Sunday stay. The staff who responded to me seemed to speak English and simple Japanese. I was trying to speak in Japanese when I knew Japanese. The room was simple and there was no window, air conditioning, TV, dryer, outlet, toilet and shower. There was also a shampoo rinse body soap. There was no dirt that was concerned and it was cleaned cleanly.

I had a 24 hour layover in Seoul and chose this hotel based on the proximity to Seoul Station. From Incheon, the train journey is about one hour to Seoul Station. Fortunately, the hotel is less than a five minute walk from Exit 12. There is a slight hill, but it’s moderate and not overwhelming. The staff were super pleasant and offered to take my luggage up. I declined since I only had a carry-on, but note there is no elevator in this hotel. Don’t expect opulent space. The rooms are compact, but comfortable. As is typical in Seoul, the bathroom includes the sink, shower and toilet - there’s no separation of the shower. I slept comfortably and the streets are quiet during the night. I only paid $40 for the night so it’s certainly easy on the wallet. As far as location, it’s a walker’s dream. Seoul Station connects to high-speed rail as well as metro lines. Myeongdong is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel. There are plenty of eateries around including those at Seoul Station. If you’re a budget traveler or low maintenance, I highly recommend this place.

Good points: 1 - Economic Hostel with affordable price R$1.943,40 (for 2 people /durante all 10 days) 2 - Private WC inside the rooms ; 3 - Offers breakfast (simply – messed eggs, bread, jelly, sweets, coffee, milk and juice) nothing but simple but functional, great experience in my opinion; 5 – Offers bags deposit, (under a charge to be consulted); 6 – WI FI free; 7 – The common area of the Hostel (reception and coffee area) very well clean; 8 - Rooms have secret closure, the guest recording password ; 9 – Offers Washing service under additional charge; 10 – Excellent location: Near Seoul Station (train and metro); Near Lotte (Shopping and Supermarket), Near the Seoul Police Centre (all these points have been walking less than 5 minutes); 11 – Reception speaks English; HAVING POINTS: 1 – No lift, You will have to climb 3 stairs levels; 2 - You will have to climb with your bags without any help; 3 – The hostel is located next to a hostel, so during the early morning and early night, the flow of “without roofs” walking near the hostel is very big, but nothing that prevents you from enjoying the trip (only be careful about this movement in these hours); 4 – Heavy cleaning of the rooms and bed-dressing exchange, is only performed every 3 days of accommodation, thus, daily, if there is a waste accumulation, the guest itself needs to collect your waste and deliver it at the Hostel reception so that it is discharged; 5 – Not having access to PNE; 6 – Reception with limited time;

Ctrip helped upgrade the room. It costs more than 1,300 RMB, which is roughly equivalent to the inferior Home Inn Express in China. The room facilities are all available. Hot water is also available. There are many kinds of matching toiletries, all of which are easy to use. The cleaning sister lent me a charging plug. Overall it's okay. Accommodation in South Korea is so expensive, beyond imagination.
