South Gladstone Motel

Some places are too good to be true, and some places are better than the too good they seem to begin with. It took me a while to get to The Sleep Factory, in several ways; being spoilt for choice for accommodation in Gladstone, and not needing to stay in any particular area, and all at good pricing. I checked the sites and The Sleep Factory came up quickly, and for good reason. I'd check others, go and come back, look at it again; it was too good to be true... I read some reviews, and there was some negative consensus, the rooms there were not as pictures, some rouse was in play to dupe and deceive? I checked Google Maps, and searched elsewhere, I had time, after all. The price was really good though, and when I came back looking at The Sleep Factory, I decided to upgrade my experience from the std motel style room to a 1 BR unit, which they advertised as having as well, and curiously, as I scrolled down the page of accommodation options, there were no shortage of them! Single rooms, Queen rooms, 1 BR units, family units, Villas of different sizes?! I checked Google Maps again, it didn't look anything special, but that's exactly what made it so good! Sitting almost submerged in tropical trees and greens, it's not easy to see exactly how big, diverse, and spaced out The Sleep Factory is, in its entirety... Once you see how large it is, and the variety of options of rooms and accommodation you have, you realise two things; The reviews are unfounded, those travellers simply have not picked the room they wanted for the room picture they saw. My 1 BR unit looked much better than the pictures would suggest - there is no subterfuge here. Secondly, it is not only a hidden gem, it's better than too good to be true. It's quiet, pet-friendly, clean, well serviced, friendly hosts, awesome internet (with Ethernet into my room!), great bedding, great bathrooms, great parking, easy access, great kitchen, space inside and outside so large; for the first time in my travels i was able to easily unpack my whole car, borrow buckets and hose to wash it. Store everything unpacked, easily in the huge unit floor space. I'm writing this review after having made my second booking to The Sleep Factory

Well - where do you start ? We arrived on time - unlike the front desk personnel. After a few phone calls we got someone - ”very busy elsewhere”. Then came the usual rubbish - offers of wrong room. Finally we got what we ordered. Why do they do this. It starts the whole visit off on the wrong foot. They have two car-parks - completely separate. We weren't told this to start so had trouble finding our allotted spot. While we were told by the ”handyman” we could park anywhere - the ”Manager” said we ”MUST” park in the spot he said. Wifi didn't work - the ”Manager” said he didn't know why - someone had messed it up. When we asked for two sets of keys he refused. Finally - after much discussion he told us the other set was lost. As there were 3 of us - 2 sets was important. You can't leave the building/room without the keys - the door auto locks. So if one person goes out - even to the car - the ones remaining can't really leave the room and get back in. Once we got these minor mishaps fixed things started to get better. Unit is spacious and comfortable. Easy fits 4. View was quite good - good TV/Foxtel - good kitchen - quite good layout (bathrooms (2) and bedrooms (2). Very well located in town. Good balcony. Wifi was good when finally going. Top Thai and Indian nearby (also Maccas) - and Newsagency - all easy walking distance. Yacht Club well worth a visit - good food and drink. Relatively easy walking - but good parking if needed. Quite easy walk to marina, information centre and cafes. Easy drive to nearby places - eg Tannum Sands. Yes - we would return but hopefully things will be smoother on check-in.

Harbour Sails Motor Inn

A very friendly and affordable hotel, perfect for tourists taking the Gladstone ferry to the island. The shop owner will drive to the dock the next day. They also helped us store our extra luggage in the store for free for four days and picked it up when we came back from the island. Very good, definitely recommended!
Park View Motel

I have been here before, it has the best sunset but over time the park view has been built out. Great location, the new renovations are excellent, no tacky carpets and all crisp tiles… bathroom great, beds great… pillows perfect … all the things a bloke wants!!! I won’t mention the rate given… I will just say they deserve more for the room but market rate for Queensland is peanuts for this quality! Lots of other units are empty! Great motel, fresh and clean!!
Rusty's Motel

We got there quite late at night and had no troubles getting into our rooms, which were clean and kept. The shower pressure was amazing, not something you find often while travelling, so definitely a huge bonus. The next day we met 2 staff members who were cleaning our rooms, and they stopped and had a conversation with us, and were friendly and talkative the whole time. It's great to see decent customer service is still around, keep up the amazing work !

There was a good restaurant nearby. The room was very clean and I was able to relax. I felt the service was very good.
Gladstone Heights Executive Apartments

We booked the 2 room apartment. I cannot fault the room at all. Very clean, new and homely and management were lovely The only negative was the wifi even though we were given the password would not work for us we were there for a week and the mosquitos...Lord knows how they were getting in but we got smashed during the night in bed every night. No fly spray in the rooms, that would have been handy. Gladstone itself is not great and out views were pretty much refineries and smelts on the water. But this accommodation was just right really. Handy location near shopping centres etc,. The rooms can be serviced but they charge you extra for that and the car space was quite small.

There is parking lot. There is washing machine and dryer and washing powder in the room. There is also a small kitchen for simple meals. The kitchen has a dishwasher and matching detergent, which is very convenient. Milk and tea bags are gifts. There is a swimming pool.
