"The hotel is a bit of a walk from Sendai Station, perhaps a little further than popular chains like Daiwa Roynet or Comfort Hotel. On the upside, it's quite close to the Sendai Morning Market and Mont-bell. If you have large luggage and are only staying for a one-night transit, I personally found the walk a bit inconvenient.
The front desk staff spoke excellent English, and the hotel provided a full range of amenities. The facilities were in good condition and felt quite new. The lobby offered various useful leaflets for exploring Sendai, and there was also a mobile app available (I didn't use it, but those interested can scan it)."
"Excellent location, just a few minutes walk from Sendai station. Convenient to go anywhere. Shopping mall, restaurants around the hotel. Guest room is spacious, clean and tidy. We will definitely accommodate here when we visit Sendai again in future."
"Great location! Few minutes walk from Sendai station and surround with lots of shops, restaurants and department store. There are 7-eleven and Starbucks at the first floor. The room is very nice. Everything is new, clean, with good space for two 28” luggage to open at the same time and we still can walk around the room. The staffs were so nice and provided prompt support. We found problem about the hair dryer at midnight and the staff changed a new one to us immediately.
There are free amenities that you could pick at lobby.
Highly recommend and would definitely choose this hotel if we have a chance to visit Sendai again 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻"
"The hotel is conveniently located near the station, with a large shopping mall nearby. There is an onsen and a restaurant in the hotel itself, but the breakfast cost more than stated in the description.
The rooms are equipped with a shower, TV, refrigerator, air conditioner, and dehumidifier, and the beds are quite comfortable. Pajamas are provided, and other amenities can be picked up at the reception if needed"
"The room itself was remodel, the rest of the area like bathroom and general area shows its age. But as with all hotel in Japan even when the building is old, the facility maangement is always top notch that everything is kept spotless. Meaning while the style of the decor is older everything is always like mint. Cannot get more central location its always next to the busier street of Sendai and few min walk to the train station. the triple room with 3 beds is perfect for our family of 4."
"A nice little hotel, conveniently located near the Sendai Station and is easy to find. The artificial public hot bath, though small, is nice to get rid of fatigue after a day's tour. The breakfast place is a bit small but the food is very nice with sashimi. A bit disappointed though as they didn't serve beef tongue curry (beef curry instead) on the day of my stay, but overall quite a good hotel and will book again if I ever visit Sendai again."
"Hotel Monterey is centrally located just outside the Sendai Station and is easily seen after you exit the station. The staff was very courteous and helpful at the time of check in. Language could be an issue but is easily manageable. I was offered a single room in a lower floor and on my request for a room on the higher floor, without any hesitation I was allotted a double room on the higher floor.
The ambience of the restaurant for breakfast was great and the variety of food served catered to Japanese and western. The breakfast was delicious.
I had to extend my stay and this was also done seamlessly without any issues.
Overall a great hotel centrally located with plenty of shopping around. If I come to Sendai again, I will return to Hotel Monterey if I visit Sendai again."
"old charming 80's building. Service is good and prefect location. Room is rather basic, the bathroom has bad smelling. There are 2 pillows but both are very small, I did not have good sleep."
"This is my second time at the GranBach and will always be my hotel of choice if I return to Sendai.
The staff are excellent, the hotel is spotless, and the Japanese breakfast is a work of art."

Amazing
GGuest UserVery nice hotel with speedy check-in and out. Hotel location is good with seven eleven nearby. Bed is comfortable and the room is spacious with spectacular views. The only comments the receptionists were so careless who directly turned down our request for purchase of some packing boxes without checking with the Concierge, the latter did sell packing boxes to the guests staying at the Hotel.
MM8450****Everything was great, except for the room being a little small. Highly recommended! The location is excellent for transportation and provides easy access to amenities. The hotel is well-equipped, making it convenient for getting around, and the staff are professional. I would definitely book here again next time.
FFoshA stroke of bad luck left us stranded in Sendai when the JR East Shinkansen network was suspended. As the night wore on with no trains in sight, we grew anxious. By 11:30 p.m., we decided to book a hotel for the night. Thankfully, the hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise — newly and tastefully renovated, cosy, and functional. The highlight was the lounge, which offered complimentary beverages and a play area for kids — an unexpected but welcome touch. Like most hotels in Japan, it provided complimentary toiletries, but this one went a step further with facial masks and bath salts — a thoughtful touch that made the stay even more relaxing.
WWang NgaiMy stay at the hotel was decent. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable enough. The staff was generally polite, but I felt they could have been more attentive. The location was convenient, and the breakfast was satisfactory. Overall, it was a standard experience without any standout features.
AAnonymous UserHotel is approx 5 mins walk from Sendai station. Follow west exit. My single room is a bit small but spacious enough for a solo. Room was clean and linen crisp. 1 bottle of water provided each day. Onsen is small with one outdoor. Over my 2-day stay at most I bumped into another person in the onsen. 2 washers and dryers in the onsen facility. Wash is free (30 mins standard) but dryer is charged 100 yen for 20 mins which is enough to 80% dry a small load. Night ramen was delicious and I appreciate the ice cream and Yakult at the onsen. Family mart is 20 steps away. Didn’t try the breakfast. And it’s actually very near the Miyakoh highway bus centre.
PPandaolimingThe hotel is in a great location, with a shopping street just outside. Go left and walk straight along the shopping street to Tohoku University, which has a beautiful environment. The shadow of Mr. Lu Xun is everywhere, with a statue of Lu Xun and a lecture hall, as well as rich historical materials. The room is compactly arranged, the bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas, and has a smart toilet. There is even a clothes dryer in the room. It is not far from Sendai Station and can be reached by foot. Sendai Castle is nearby.
MMackey119I stayed for a night. There was nice hot spring and sauna! If you like hot spring or sauna, you should choose this capsule hotel! The location is the center of Sendai city, and you can access easily from Sendai station.
Ssun102****Excellent location, just a short walk from Sendai Station, making transport incredibly convenient. The breakfast was generous and delicious. Check-in was quick and hassle-free. The room was spotless, the mattress incredibly comfortable, towels fresh, and they even provided soft-bristled toothbrushes. We thoroughly enjoyed our two-day stay.
GGustavo TozzoIn complete contrast to my previous night at a different city, coming to this hotel was a total change.
Friendly desk staff, helpful and accommodating. Well informed and willing to help.
The room was small but enough for one night. The bed was really comfortable as well.
The hotel has a Hot Bad that accommodates 4~6 people at once.
Really wonderful being able to take a very hot bad at such large place.
and all at no extra charge.
Only thing bad I have to say about the place is there was this smell of ”fresh” paint all throughout.
Bothered me a bit, but it was easy to put up with.
I will be staying again in October and look forward to it.
Unfortunately I took no photos. Will do so next time.
GGuest UserPlenty of amenities to choose from, having a shampoo bar at the front desk and razors, etc. However at our stay, the water was out for all showers and toilets that we could find. Our room had a tobacco scent as it was a smoking room however the windows are unable to be opened leaving it to linger.
