Freina Mountain Lifestyle Hotel

We found this wonderful family-own/run hotel through one of the online booking sites. I did go through some guests reviews and was impressed on various aspects of the hotel, room, restaurant, amenities and more importantly services. Sure enough, our 3-night stay did not disappoint. The hotel is located in a quiet but convenient spot. Our room has a balcony facing one big lift in town. The room is spacious and tastefully decorated. We really liked the decor. Hotel restaurant is a nice one rated high among all restaurants in town, a big and busy group of towns. The food was well prepared and delicious with great atmosphere and nice views (if seated right). Good breakfast and garage parking were included in booking. Well care like sauna and steam room was a big plus after day hikes. Using sauna/steam room in Gardena area is traditionally no bathing suits thus majority of people were using towels to wrap around with a handful people were "free-spirited", LOL. The service provided by the hotel was excellent during our stay (though we usually don't need daily room service during hotel stays). The hotel is managed and run by family members of the owner and everyone of the family worked hard providing excellent services, information, and recommendations, while trained new employees nicely. We enjoyed some conversations with the family members and we're very impressed on their attention to details, understanding of guests and industry, work ethics, friendliness and sense of humor. It was an enjoyable stay and would recommend it highly.

Food changes daily and is of a very high standard! The staff always have a smile on and will try their best to help you! The family owners are really nice people, there’s always at least one of the 4 of them working all time and nothing is a problem to them! The sauna and wellness area is new and is fabulous! Location is excellent as you can ski into the hotel! Many people come to the restaurant who are not hotel guests which is a really good sign of the food and service!

Just completed a 6 night stay at the beautiful Hotel Freina in Selva. I did a lot of research of all the hotels in Selva and I am very happy that I picked the Hotel Freina for my stay during my ski vacation. It is a perfect hotel. In a great location, a truly ski in/ski out hotel (actually on the Sella Ronda and you are able to ski directly to the hotel with either a hard or easier red slope) with a bus stop very close by when you get into town. They also have a great underground parking lot for those who drive. My room was spectacular with a view of the ski slope and a huge balcony. The beautiful spa was much appreciated after a day of skiing. I would highly recommend taking half board with your stay. The restaurant is incredible. The breakfast is plentiful with just about anything you could want to eat, but the four course dinners at dinner were truly Michelin star worthy with plenty of choices each night. A nice afternoon tea with sweets is also offered everyday just in time for an after ski treat. However, what really makes the Hotel Freina special is the wonderful Kostner family who owns and runs the hotel. They are very warm and welcoming and it truly feels like a home the minute you walk into the hotel. The Kostner family and the entire staff go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and special. If you are planning a ski trip to the Dolomites or a summer hiking trip, stay at the Hotel Freina. It’s the best hotel in the area and definitely the best ski hotel I have ever stayed in. Thank you Hotel Freina for making my first trip (and hopefully not the last trip) to the Dolomites very special.

Warm welcomes, owned and operated by 2 generations of a delightful family who are all very hands-on, be it at the reception desk, behind the bar or in the restaurant which serves the most delicious meals, said to be amongst the best in town. Well located, close to apres and other restaurants, shops, ski schools and rental just a few steps away. Wonderful, well thought out rooms (ours had a view right over the red slope and the night time ski show (once weekly), comfortable, great bathrooms and huge bath for relaxing in after a day on the mountains. The ski room is nothing short of luxurious with heaters for your boots/helmets/gloves.

The warmest of welcomes we got in our week long stay in Val Gardena. Great hosts with a great restaurant, service was good and you can tell it is family run. Small bar area made it easy to make friends and be involved, we liked it so much we went back a second night. Can't comment on the hotel rooms we stayed somewhere else but would consider this for a hotel if we go back
