Located just 90 minutes from Paris in the heart of the Sologne L Auberge du Cheval Blanc - the White Horse Inn is a former 17th century post house has been converted into a pleasant gourmet establishment by Ludovic Poyau the chef where flavours and spices take pride of place. Each room is a small discovery giving onto a terrace courtyard or a blooming garden. Even if you don t have a horse to hand a bike ride in the countryside is most enjoyable.

I was travelling by car from Roscoff port to Geneva with my 2 dogs & needed to have an overnight stay in France to break up the very long journey. I had booked a budget hotel in nearby Romarantin but decided the day before to seek an alternative with an onsite restaurant. I came upon this absolute gem & booked it immediately. Considering the price I was unsure how it would work out. It was wonderful! My room was in an annex off the courtyard and, while small, was perfect for us. There was no air conditioning but there was a fan, much needed in the very high temperatures. I had dinner in the excellent onsite restaurant & it was just perfect after a long, exhausting drive. Breakfast, while basic, was plentiful and perfect to set me up for a second long day of driving. So happy I made the late decision to cancel my other booking!

Beautiful old property with magnificent wooden beams and pretty courtyard at the rear. Very friendly and helpful host. Superb food - dinner and breakfast. Comfortable bedrooms. Good, safe private parking. Sad we could only stay for one night as we had plans already to move on but will remember this place for the future

L’auberge vient juste de réouvrir depuis 1 mois et nous avions à cœur d’essayer la nouvelle version suite à la reprise par un nouveau chef. Quelle excellente surprise. Dans un cadre légèrement renouvelé, la cuisine a totalement changé pour s’orienter vers une belle gastronomie tout en baissant les prix. Le service est très bon et le binôme s’efforce de faire honneur aux assiettes. A recommander sans hésiter.

Dans un petit village une auberge où l’on est très bien accueilli Il n’y avait pas beaucoup de clients mais cependant nous n’avons pas eu la sensation de déranger. Ils étaient là pour nous et c’est agréable. Chambre au rez- de jardin. Le seul problème c’est que nous ne pouvions ouvrir les rideaux sans être vu. Un voilage aurait été sympa pour nous protéger des regards éventuels. La table était très bonne. Chef au top. Menu top. Plats top. Et l’apprenti pâtissier nous a fait des top desserts et des top viennoiseries pour notre petit déjeuner Franchement une très belle découverte.
