The authentic house is located at the bottom of the valley, a 5-minute walk from the beach, ideal. In addition, the house has 4 rooms, so you constantly meet the other guests, in the kitchen or living room that you share with each other. This form of living together is very nice! Of course, you have to drive down a few steep sections to reach the house (not an exception on Madeira), after which it is a challenge to park your car at the house in the narrow streets and mostly reserved parking spaces for residents. In addition, the house is indeed authentic, but also a bit lacking in atmosphere. It is very dark (due to the stone walls) and closed shutters in the house and many busy paintings on the wall. The chapel upon entering also has something spooky! We also found the house and our room musty and smelled of holy water / church, which also makes your clothes smell afterwards. Because the house has a complete kitchen, it is ideal to use. There was only no olive oil or pepper to cook with, our tip to add these as standard to make it practical. Breakfast was prepared every morning by the housekeeper. After which she stood quietly in a corner of the kitchen until we were ready to clean up. Despite trying to talk to her several times, it was difficult to get in touch with her. We would have liked a slightly more involved and hospitable person and it would have been appropriate for this stay.
