We stayed here for one night whilst walking the Norfolk coast path. What a great find! The price we paid for the room was excellent and great value! The room was super comfortable and clean and was decorated and designed to a high standard. The staff were lovely and provided great service. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and also for breakfast - the food was excellent - really tasty! If we are in the area again we will definitely book to stay again! A great place to stay!

The staff at the King William are among the nicest I have had the delight of meeting. I called in as a walk in guest seeking a full breakfast. Although the had other guests who had stayed in the hotel to feed they were more than happy to care for my needs and be so warm and welcoming that I felt I must make the effort to leave a glowing review. Well done for having such a nice staff and the food was superb too. Many thanks.

Awful would be a compliment Waited ages for food, staff apologetic said did not have full ream in kitchen and only a covering chef(loose term). Offered specials of curry night. One veg curry came was just veg in water. Chicken curry was a quarter of precooked chicken with sause on top.chicken supreme had a teaspoon of sauce,we asked for more which came half an hour later and just tasted of cream. By this time only 2 of our party of six were brave enough to risk pudding. They went for eaton mess sadly it turned out to be eating disaster. It consisted of squirty cream,1 strawberry cut in half, meringue may have been traceable with further investigation, some ice cream and strawberry sause not a coulis as described. This is a terrible place. Service very slow food awful I suggest you drive bye. Very disappointed.

A few weeks ago (9th – 13th June) my wife and I stayed at the King William IV in Sedgeford, where we have stayed many times before both since the Coaching Inn Group took ownership and when it was privately run. We normally book Bed & Breakfast only and decide daily on whether we will dine in the evening each morning, depending on our plans. This has always worked well in the past and with the exception of Thursday 12th it worked well this time. As usual on our way out on that morning the breakfast waitress asked if we would like a table for the evening and we said yes, at 19:00 as usual. As it was a warm and sunny evening we sat outside and chatted with other guests and locals that we know, having a drink and waiting to be offered menus and be called for our 19:00 booking. At 19:00 I went in to the restaurant and asked the new manager when she would like us to order. She denied having any booking for us and eventually offered us a table at 19:30 as if she was doing us a favour. As we had no choice we had to accept that as I didn’t want to drive somewhere else having had a drink. On Friday morning I checked with the breakfast waitress that we had booked with her and she checked the computer and confirmed that not only had she booked us for Thursday evening but also which table she had booked us on. (This table was occupied by other guests at 19:00 and as it was a very busy evening and all tables were occupied.) I take great exception to being lied to by the manager. It is clear from my enquiries that we were booked to dine that evening and a table had been allocated. If staff could confirm the next day that the booking had been made then she too could have confirmed that on the evening and apologised for making an error in not calling us, but she chose to say we had no booking. The previous manager would never have behaved like that, he would have apologised and done his utmost to rectify the mistake. Their present manager however made no such effort and implied the error must have been ours. It was a very busy evening and our meal was also not up to standard but I suspect it was rushed through in some sort of misguided effort to rectify her error. We have stayed at the King William IV many times in the past and we hope to do so in the future, but I suggest the present manger has either not be properly trained or she’s just incompetent; either way I hope that if she is still in post for our next visit she will remember that we are the customers and she is there to see that we get the service and treatment that I’m sure Coaching Inn Group expect all their hotels to offer. I usually book directly with the hotel as we prefer to stay in a particular room and they can confirm whether it is available or not at the time of booking; which I did this time and the person who took the booking was very helpful and friendly as usual, so I found the present manager’s attitude and manner well below the standard I usually receive. nickgj11

Came for lunch was disappointed as the menu wasn’t much to choose from as fancey food not a lot of people like half in the menu to have waited a while for food to have a limited portion size on the plate for the price it was was disgustin skin on fries was over cooked the scampi tasted very of the other plate a chicken and club sandwich the bacon was really hard. The chicken was watery and the roll was rock solid but halfway through the meal they brought the peas out for the scampi meal which didn’t look appetising overall will not be coming back for a meal, not at the price it was at food was very underrated when the last owners had it. The food was amazing now it below too.

Good choice We were delighted with our choice of accommodation. The decor and ambiance was perfect. The whole of the building was spotlessly clean and the staff were unfailingly pleasant and polite.

Went to the King William for food only. Have been a few times over the past few years and also stayed. Lovely restaurant, pleasant staff. The menu let it down. Not much choice on the Monday evening menu. The King prawn and chorizo starter wasn't very good for ten pounds. The chorizo consisted of small black bits ?? Wasnt offered a finger bowl which we should have had as had to shell the king prawns. Was going to have the sea trout only to be told it was off. The hake was a decent substitute. Sausage and mash was good but the sirloin steak is a no no!! For £30 you would expect better. It was tough and we had to ask for a steak knife. Total rip off. A bottle of red wine at £34 you would expect to be something special. It was not. There is a 10% service charge on the bill too. Won't be going back.
