The worst two plates of food I've been presented with in years. 5 course menu and left after two courses as the Tartare was poorly prepared, nearly frozen and completely unseasoned. Picanha was totally inedible, was it fried off in the sous-vide bag? The restaurant staff were made aware of the issues and were unhelpful. Room issues. Safe didn't work because batteries hadn't been changed in years and had corroded. None of the extractor fans worked. Mold in the bathroom. Marks on the bed linen. Peeling paint work. Interesting building but requires tidying up, maintenance and someone to oversee what is happening in the kitchen. They still had the temerity to put the evening meal on the bill.

Great property set above the town of Sedan in the fort. Huge thick stone walls & the bedrooms have tiny windows but they are modern & well presented. We had dinner in the restaurant & it was excellent. We were told that a group would be dining so we went slightly earlier then them & it worked out well. Breakfast was fine, could have done with an extra member of staff to keep buffet topped up but it wasn't a problem Excellent value for money. Car park inside the fort walls is from 6pm to 10 am however you can drop of luggage at other times. Great reception team too.

Beautiful building but the most terrible service Im here now in the restaurant on the 3rd floor - beautiful Food 2nd rate and service disgusting I have a serious fish and shellfish allergy which was conveyed to staff - starter arrived fish pate- get that epipen loaded if if wasn’t for my friend i would had put it in my mouth- stopped short because it smelt fishy - waiters response- shoulder shrug and no understand Husband a diabetic given full coke. Reception staff amazing but totally let down by restaurant and bar staff. Beautiful place to stay but don’t eat or drink here Staff are angry and ignorant. I love my breaks in France beautiful country such friendly and welcoming nation but not at the chateau!!

A huge disappointment. We looked forward to this stay as the location and restaurant as shown on the website promised a stay to remember. It was, for the wrong reasons. We were told we could not park the car in the castle grounds, which meant we could unload then take the car to the car park below and then walk in the stifling heat back up the hill to the hotel. Then at 6pm repeat the process. We took our belongings to the room and noted other people had parked and were not moving their cars. We followed suit and there were no issues. The room was small and as it was very high the window could not be opened. There was no aircon in the room, but there was in the hall outside. The temperature was above 30 degrees. We went down for a drink and the poor girl on reception had to dash over to serve us, staffing issues like everywhere else. The restaurant was a joke, the food was sub-standard for somewhere that charges such prices. Our starters were tasteless; my main of turbot was nothing like any turbot I have eaten. I have always lived by the sea and know my fish. This was two tiny portions of what looked like tails of a small plaice and not even dressed properly. It was a very small dish more like a tapas size. My wife loves lamb but she found hers inedible, it was chewy. My dessert was listed as chocolate mousse, and was grainy and dense, not at all a mousse. A dreadful meal.

Visited the Hotel as part of a large tour visiting local battlefields. Location stunning, hotel sympathetic and modern, food very good as in the value. Easy access to town for variety of food etc. Will definitely return if in the area again.

This is a very unusual venue! The actual hotel is inside the chateau fort and the rooms and facilities are very comfortable - no complaints there! However the service completely let the standards of the accommodation down. We went to the bar for a drink before dinner - 20 minutes later we were still waiting! We were advised to go up to the restaurant where someone could get us drinks. After another wait we did manage to order some drinks then after a further wait they finally turned up (brought up from the bar downstairs). The restaurant was busy and the 2 waiting staff were completely overwhelmed. We did finally get our food and it was good quality, however we completed our meal at around 10.30pm from a 7.45pm booking! Breakfast next morning was a shambles: no coffee, no eggs, no fresh yoghurt. There was just one lady who was attempting to set/clear tables as well as keeping the foodstuffs topped up. When we complained at reception as we checked out, all we got was a shrug. A reduction in our breakfast bill would have been more acceptable! In summary, a lovely, interesting hotel let down by a lack of service. The staff that were there were working very hard - just not enough of them.

Great opportunity to sleep in a castle/fortress. Fun castle tour with animation and interesting displays. Great piece of history.

Positives: Wonderful dramatic and historic setting. Sympathetic installation of modern hotel facilities in an ancient building - the exposed ancient stonework, and beams are great. Comfortable bed. Spacious room (suite). Modern clean and spacious bathroom. Great wifi in every room. Reception staff very helpful. Negatives: Some of the paintwork around the reception and lift area looks tired, with chips and dents. Lift only reaches the 5th floor, so have to climb stairs if you book a suite on the top floor. The entrance into the fort to get to the hotel is poorly signposted. The restaurant has a nice setting but the food is very expensive and really poor (AVOID) In short, it's a lovely place to stay, just don't dine at the hotel.

Think it probably hasn’t been open long as it is all freshly painted But staff need to understand the customers pay their wages Would I come again doubt it very much Very different to lovely Phillipino service last night, couldn’t do enough for you Here it is the usual attitude ‘Nice job shame about the customers’
