Hotel Ristorante Torre Bennistra

Stunning family run hotel with beautiful views over the Sicilian coast. Visiting the area for a wedding, Scopello was a hidden gem in the hills of western Sicily. A small continental breakfast felt like you were eating with the family on the terrace in the sunshine. We didn’t visit the restaurant because there was live jazz music in the main piazza which had 6 or so restaurants. The walk to the sea dock is downhill but worth the hike (coming back up was the hard part). Would recommend hiring a car or scooter if visiting because there are no taxis. No swimming pool.

Four of us went for lunch, view from the terrace was lovely and the gentleman who seated us was very kind and patient as we took a long time to order. We shared excellent caponata, bruschetta and a raw tuna dish for starters, all good. Mains not as successful, but that could have been our choices, no-one raved. We ordered grilled prawns, swordfish with olive tapenade, ricotta and fennel ravioli and spaghetti with sardines. We had many bottles of sparkling water, the bill came to 120Euros. Service was funny, 3 plates came out for the shared first courses not 4. Won’t be going back, La Tavernetta, La Terrazza and Bar Netuno all with sea views were better

The most amazing view in Scopello (the sunrises do not disappoint), super helpful and friendly staff, very clean and altogether a wondeful experience. The restaurant also has great views and really good food.

Had a great stay here! Everything we needed and an amazing view. Also a major plus that the room had a king sized bed. They helped us with parking and let us store our bags, which was a huge help. We’d definitely recommend this hotel if you’re coming to Scopello!

Just returned from a walking holiday in Sicily with Inntravel and stayed here for two nights. Excellent location and view and the small terrace for breakfast overlooking the sea would be hard to beat. The rest of the hotel is very average, a little run down and looking out of our window at the next door hotel's pool, we would rather have stayed there! Our friends booked a sea view room but didn't get it.

We really wanted to love this hotel, but unfortunately it was just not a comfortable stay. The location was really beautiful, and the rooms had a delightful view of the sea and Faraglioni do Scopello. But the room itself was pretty old and run down. It didn’t feel clean at all (the lampshades, for instance were quite dirty and covered in what may have been mould). The whole room had the strongest smell of some sort of toilet or bathroom cleaner - it was really overwhelming to the point that we struggled to sleep, and felt like we weren’t breathing in fresh air but instead toxic fumes. It seemed to have faded a little overnight, but returned again after housekeeping came through (assuming they rub it on every surface as the whole walls and floor are tiles). Once it faded though there was a strong sewerage smell from the bathroom - not sure which smell was worse. We couldn’t even open the doors or windows to try to air out the room, because of the massive numbers of mosquitos that would come in. We tried to keep the windows and doors shut as much as we could to combat this, but housekeeping would open them all up again, meaning there were so many mosquitos in the room (again making it very difficult to get to sleep) despite our attempts to avoid this. The mosquito coils the hotel provided seemed to do little to help. The bed was pretty uncomfortable as well, and we were only given two very thin pillows for a kind bed. For the price we paid (this es pretty expensive compared to most of the other much nicer hotels we’ve stayed in this trip) we expected so much more. Service was fine, staff weren’t very helpful when you asked them questions but otherwise seemed pleasant. Definitely would not return, unless the hotel/rooms have some work done to it.
