On getting to the hotel we were very early as we were going to the cricket match on the same day. The parking was very good and cost £7.90. We called in and used the buffet breakfast facility and I have to say it was very good. We arrived later that day around 7pm to check in, the auto check in service didn’t work so a young lady checked us in. All good so far, until we opened the door to our room to discover it occupied. We immediately went to reception who apologised and issued us with a new room. The room we were given had only 1 double bed and a spare which has no linen for it. We got washed and changed and on leaving informed the staff that we needed spare bed linen and towels. They again agreed to our request. When we arrived back there was no linen or towels to be seen, by this stage we were too tired to try and find any staff to do anything about it and ended up making the best of what we had. I disappointing experience.

Not the best experience. • Both self checking screens broken upon arrival and no one on reception, presses the buzzer 4 times before a girl appeared from the bar. • Issues with noise from room above is from 8.30pm - 2am. Started trying to contact reception from just after 10pm to complain- reception not manned, no answer to phone calls all evening, even resorted to sending an email to the hotel incase that would be picked up. The delightful heard of elephants in the room above us woke around 8.30am and the co start banging of kids running continued. I understand kids will be kids but I always ensure my kids who both have complex additional needs and love to run around and make noise are occupied so they are not disturbing other guests. Told a staff memeber on check out and she was rather dismissive. Hotel room was comfortable and clean so can’t fault that but not great that there’s no one at the end of the phone if you have an issue after a long day when you have another busy long day the following day the least you expect is a half decent nights sleep.

Disappointed on some aspects but would like to give thanks to a couple of members of staff who absolutely went the extra mile to make our stay special...don't know names but to the young man who checked us in and was there to help with anything we needed in the public areas we would like to say thank you and enjoy your holiday next month! Also the blonde-haired lady who covered bar and restaurant, thanks for your help and consideration too, much appreciated. We booked a family room for 4 people and there was only 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel in the bathroom along with a toilet tissue dispenser that clearly hadn't been replenished. This hotel is very clearly understaffed with waits for both breakfast and dinner tables despite vacant tables so we guess this is due to kitchen output capacity. Having said that, when a chef was clearly under pressure at breakfast he cheerily and perfectly produced a couple of poached eggs. The beds had winter-weight duvets so not comfortable at all. Wouldn't stay again or recommend but if those two exceptional members of staff and chef were elsewhere we would definitely follow them.

We had a very pleasant stay here prior to attending an event at the open air theatre. The staff were very busy but happy to help and friendly . They took great care when we were eating in the restaurant re gluten free options for me which was much appreciated , ensuring it was cooked separately and providing separate cutlery . It was reassuring that the staff were trained in dealing with allergies

Had a thoroughly excellent time at this hotel. It was right next to Alpamare and the lake which were our main reasons for coming. Staff were extremely friendly and willing to help. Food was great and we all had a lovely time.
