The only two positives we can give for this guest house is the welcome was a friendly one and the room was a good size. We were totally shocked after reading such good 5 star reviews that this was not our experience at all. It really could do with some attention and refurbishment. The bathroom accessories were chipped the toilet roll holder was rusty the bedside tables had paint rubbed off and the furnishings were not of a good standard at all and dirty net curtains. We were told If we were to mark any of the white towels with make up etc we would be fined. I did ask if we could have larger bath towels as we were given just one large and two medium to be told it would be an extra cost of £5 per person and the towels wouldn't be changed anyway as we were only staying for 2 nights. They only change them for 4+ nights. Just felt we couldn't relax for all the do's and don'ts not what you want when you are away for the weekend. The wooden toilet roll holder was loose and couldn't get the roller to click off so didn't want to force it incase the whole unit fell of the wall, didn't want to incur a cost for this either so had to message for them to change it - trivial I know but honestly lived in fear the whole weekend not to mark or break anything!! We accidentally left the mirror light on in the bathroom to come home to find a notice had been stuck on the mirror. Another downside was where the dresser/chair was there was no plug socket to dry hair so had to balance a small compact mirror near the kettle to dry our hair. We definitely would not recommend this guest house. It's way over priced for the condition of the room, decor and accessories. Like other reviews we too were encouraged not to book breakfast with them but to eat in the town. We only wish we had read further down the reviews for all the negative ones and also shocked by the tone and response from the owners.

The area is very central but not what the reviews on here paint a picture of. Its run down and full of unquestionable individuals. The room is clean , comfortable but small. No meals are served . And there is no one around, no reception. You call on a bell and the proprietor appears from over the road somewhere. Overpriced and overstated. The garden you see on the pictures is not part of this property and it is a bed and not breakfast, not a hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Admiral recently where we were accommodated in a spacious and comfortable apartment which had a fully equipped kitchen and stylish bathroom with a good hot powerful shower – very welcome during the long October nights! We were well provided for with crisp white towels and sachets of shower gel. An orthopaedic mattress was available and rapidly installed as we both have back problems, in fact nothing was too much trouble for Seb who was also a mine of information regarding local sights and amenities and could provide us with a wealth of leaflets – extremely helpful for us as the Tourist Information Centre long since closed and we are not exactly tech-savvy!

Very comfy beds.plenty of room for hanging cloths and bedside table/drawers. Lovely view over square from windows on second floor. Quiet house very relaxing.

The combination of a wonderful host and a delightful environment made for a very enjoyable stay. All specific needs can be addressed with rooms to accommodate issues. It was a pleasure to stay at The Admiral, I will be returning very soon and no doubt over coming years as well. A good place to stay, close enough to the town to make movement easy plus easy access to the cliff and coast. Oh yes, a stunning moggy greeted me each day.
