Resort Hotel Norppa

The room was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel, more similar to what you might find on a train or possibly a cheap boat cruise. There was no room for anything except the bed, (2*80 cm) in theroom. In addition there was a small hallway whre we could put the suitcase (good thing, as it otherwise would have had no place at all) and some kind of equipment up on the wall which made quite a noice but otherwise no function that we could notice (poosibly connected to the communal kitchen that was next door....) The bathroom/shower was so cramped that even though it looked quite new, the cabinets were completely ruined from water coming onto it. As you could have guessed, no place whatsoever to place your toiletries. The room got so hot and stuffy that it was almost impossible to sleep, If you are going to offer rooms in the summer you have to have some kind of air conditioning! The room cost 162 Euro (!!), obviously raised due to the opera festival, but completely ridiculous. Problem is that I find it almost impossible to find a price that would be reasonable for the room. The only correct level would be ~50 euro which would make it acceptable to students who have no money. The breakfast was adequate but not more that that.

Visited here in the midst of July. The place is not far from Savonlinna, by a small lake. Rooms are small but cozy. The air conditioning did not work very well, maybe because of the hot summer days. We stayed on the second floor and I suppose that the people in the first floor could hear our steps. We could sense a vague smell of "old house", like mould, but were not so sure about that. We had or regular morning swim in the lake too. The lake is beautiful but there is no actual beach at all. The breakfast was very good, nothing to complain about it. The personnel in the hotel is very friendly.
